01/28/2003
Dallas Cowboys player Dwayne Goodrich was released Monday afternoon after he was arrested in connection with three charges of failure to stop and render aid in a fatal Jan. 14 hit-and-run crash.
He was arrested about 9:10 a.m. and booked into Lew Sterrett Justice Center shortly before 10 a.m., authorities said. He was released on bail about 3 p.m. after posting $15,000 in cash.

Mr. Goodrich also faces two counts of manslaughter in the deaths of two men who were run down this month. Mr. Goodrich had been free on $50,000 bail for the manslaughter charges.
Failure to stop and render aid is a felony punishable by up to five years in prison. Manslaughter is a second-degree felony punishable by two to 20 years in prison.
Authorities have said the accident happened just after 2 a.m., when Mr. Goodrich drove between a concrete barrier and a burning car involved in an earlier accident on Interstate 35E.
Demont Matthews, 23, and Joseph Wood, 21, and a third man who were trying to rescue the driver trapped in the burning car were struck. Mr. Matthews and Mr. Wood were killed. The other good Samaritan suffered a broken leg.

It's tough being a Dallas Cowboy, huh? Even if you're an relatively unknown newcomer. (Soon to be ex-Cowboy, I think).
