Whenever I read something that Bush, Sr. said, I always remember that there was a good reason he was a one term president.

At a 'private secure party in a small social gathering'...Not too secure if his statements ended up in the NY Post. Memo to Poppy: keep your mouth shut.

To #5 - sounds to me like he is doing his part by staying diplomatically hands-off. 50-50 means maybe yes, maybe no.

Does anyone realize the peculiar position he's in?
I mean he should watch what he says at all times. But sometimes things slip out and are said without realizing the implications of those words.
I do not envy George HW Bush' position at all right now and will continue to pray for him and his family, especially his son, GWB

HA! Essentially poppy told them nothing! We may go to war, we may not. They'll only read into it what they wish to.

Not so private and secure but if someone were to ask me I would probably say the same thing. 50=50 chance. Yep, that sounds about right.

All due respect to the office of the President but I have always considered George Bush the 1st to be an incompetent boob.
If he honestly thinks this thing is 50/50 then that serves to confirm my impression of him.
Reality alone puts it closer to 70/30 for an attack. GB1 has never been able to read the writing on the wall and I honestly dont think he should've ever been a President.
Eitherway...50/50 is laughable. Where's Margaret Thatcher when you need her?

heck, i hope and expect we are at the 95/05 point.
All the triggers that we stated earlier would lead to war have happened. Saddam and Iraq regime has *not* complied with 1441. the inspections are like a 'bad movie' and we dont want a rerun of it.
the only thing missing is the 'smoking gun' proof of massive Iraqi deception on WMD. so far, we have some evidence of deception - 13 chemical warheads, lots of nuke technology documents. and as of now, most intelligence analysts think saddam has chemical and bio weapons, we just dont know where they are; he has nuke technology but not nuke material. And he has still harbored terrorists, he hasnt changed there.
WE have every justification to attack, and the excuses for not doing so are getting lamer and less valid over time.
95% chance of bomby weather in Baghdad in February.
(JMHO, I hope it is the case as we need Saddam gone for our national security sake).
