Glad to see the column is going over so well. I really do think this is the thinking behind the bold Bush maneuvers. It's classic judo strategy, right out of Sun Tzu's "art of war". Game theory 101: Use your adversary's reactions to your benefit whenever you can. I just hope that GOP senators have the guts to actually stand up and fight for these things.

For this to work, Republicans have to stand their ground and draw a clear line between themselves and the democrats. If Rep senators waffle, hedge, and align with the democrats, they will be thrown to the mat in the same fell swoop as the Dems. The majority will go bye-bye.
