One general rule that I live by: if my weapons are not welcome, then neither am I.

I tend to say that the idiotic policy is not letting citizens go armed.
OTOH, as long as it is being enforced against citizens and off duty LEO citizens alike I don't see where anybody has anything to say about it.
The off duty LEOs may not like it, but tough.

It's funny how the leaders and enforcers gasp when their own rules are applied to them.

That's the only way you ever get them to realize how onerous their laws are.

What a gem this is:
With a weapon, "even if youre off duty, you can respond to a crisis and protect yourself," Polk said. ~ Article
Obviously, the police in Arkansas view themselves as better than the common Joe. Perhaps you need to add re-education of police to your list.

I'll never forget the time an off duty cop road raged me in traffic. He followed me to my destination and started threatening me and yelling. He told me he could hold me and call for an on duty officer. No ID or anything. He was just sweating testosterone. These guys think they are living gods or something.

To clarify, the road rage incident occurred after he cut me off and almost hit me. I responded with a one finger salute. He was in a civilian vehicle, and I didn't know he was an off duty cop. I wonder if he has been promoted to an on duty cop yet?

Please tell us how the armed off duty cops helped out during 911?
Now, if the common citizens were armed on the highjacked airplanes we would be much better off.
My hope is a country free of government agents waving metal detectors over its citisens.

Although Marion wont budge on the weapon policy, he said hell try to attract Pulaski County deputies back to his security force by offering them more hours. We'll see what wins out: money or "principle."
I wrote principle in scare quotes, because this is really about privilege and professional loyalty. If it were about principle, the officers would oppose ANY licensed gunowner from being forbidden to carry his firearm in the arena. But since the deputies are only upset about their "rights" and those of their brother officers being violated, I say to them, "Get a taste of your own medicine, gentlemen, a good, long swig of it."

You weren't in Gold Hill, OR were you? They had a police chief that behaved like that...threatened to burn some people's house down if they turned him in.

It also referenced the opinion that carrying a concealed handgun "may be disallowed...". This part doesn't mention off duty officers although they are the subject of the article. Neither does it say that the off duty officer can go in if they have their weapons in view rather than concealed. Altogether the article is not clear on the fine points. It does present some interesting issues.

Don't live in Arkansas (haven't since 1962), but if I did, I wouldn't be interested in arguing for a policy to grant special rights to off duty cops. To dump the no weapons policy for everyone, I would support, but not just for some.
