A Washington, D.C.-based civil rights leader said Tuesday that he would "chain [himself] to the construction site" of a ceremonial office being built as a tribute to Ku Klux Klansman-turned-senator, Robert Byrd, D-W.V.

You go Kevin. You're exactly right, both parties need to take responsibility for the scum amongst them.

It's about damn time that some outrage is expressed at Byrd. Like his fellow partymembers, he is a disgrace to this nation and an affront to the voters. I can't believe that the voters of Virginia have kept him in there for 44 years. Now a 'fantasy office'? That's going way over the line.

While you're at it Kevin, you should be rubbing Jesse's and Al's noses in it too - after all, they're DemonRats who support this Klansman. Who is the Uncle Tom now?

Where are all the black (and white) Democrat "civil rights" activists protesting the monument to his Klansman? Of course they're nowhere to be found, as they don't have a principled bone in their bodies. To them, the concerns of The Party trump everything else, and principle is way down on the list. They're virtually the same as the "peaceniks" who are currently protesting our upcoming war with Iraq because we might kill some innocent women and children, and were absolutely nowhere to be found when Klintoon was bombing and killing thousands of innocents in Yugoslavia (in '99) and in Iraq (in '98 - Operation Desert Fox). The DemoRat Party is their god, and nothing is too sacred to sacrifice to that god.

Kevin has guts. Too bad there aren't more like him.

Jeez, I completely forgot to get back to you about Iraq's connection(s) with OKC a few days ago. Sorry about that. I haven't even yet looked at the links I gave you. Did you get around to them yet?

I agree. It's amazing a guy with Bryds' background can be in Congress, much less have a secret six figure budget appropriation to build a replica in the Capitol Building of the ornate office he used to occupy as Senate Pro Tempore.

Kudos to Kevin, I hope he keeps it up and it snowballs.

Actually, I did some research and found some interesting info and posted it at 170 and 174 on the following thread. Also check out 179 on the same thread. One way or another, and probably very soon, Saddam will be toast.

Check these post.170,174,179

Taxpayers Fund Sen. 'KKK' Byrd's Power Fantasy

The allegedly Republican-controlled U.S. Senate is forcing taxpayers to blow hundreds of thousands of dollars to give America's most famous ex-Klansman, Sen. Robert Byrd, the illusion that he is still Senate president pro tempore.

The chamber last week "bestowed upon Byrd, 85, the title of President Pro Tempore Emeritus and agreed to build him an office that will make him feel as if nothing has changed," Knight-Ridder Newspapers reported.

"Any day now, workmen will converge on a sunny dead-end corridor on the first floor of the U.S. Capitol and seal it off. They'll erect walls, install new wiring, and build a replica of the ornate office of the Senate President Pro Tempore."

The cost is secret, unmentioned in any appropriations document or internal Senate correspondence, but estimated in six figures, the news service reported.

The West Virginian, former Senate majority leader, minority leader and chairman of the Senate Appropriations Committee, remains the Democrats' senior member on Appropriations, which doles out pork to the states.

"Frankly, it's not worth the trouble he can create if you don't give him deference," admitted Sen. Trent Lott, R-Miss., chairman of the Senate Rules Committee.
