Activist options

Charlotte community activist Linda Williams is "giving serious thought" to mounting a campaign against incumbent James Mitchell for the District 2 City Council seat.

"My biggest issue with Mr. Mitchell is that he says what he thinks you want to hear," she said. "Right now, we have no representation."

Williams -- who won notice last summer after asking the city to pay for private police in the Optimist Park neighborhood -- said she doesn't know if she'd run against Mitchell in the primary or the general election.

"Right now, I'm a registered Democrat, but I think I have a lot of Republican views," she said.

Wow, Linda Williams did a great job standing up for her community and raising money for private police in the crime-infested Optimist Park neighborhood, and if she ran as a Republican it would send shock waves through the city of Charlotte! The Mecklenburg GOP should send her a fruit basket every day for a year to convince her to run! James "Smuggie" Mitchell is a little too smug, a black Democrat who cares only for himself.

I'm just amazed: "Right now, I'm a registered Democrat, but I think I have a lot of Republican views," she said.
