I'm not religious nor am I particularly upset by homosexuality, but I find this sort of behavior deeply offensive.

In fact, bigotry (towards christians) is apt description of Google's behavior.

Google is not the government and they can 'censor' any ads they don't want. Get over it and/or start your own search engine. There is no 1st Amendment issue here.

Google is a private business and can list or not list copy as it chooses. The Christian Courier has no claim on them except the usual arrogance of the Saved.

Google's actions are not anti-Christian or bigoted in any way. They are known for their very strict regulation of what ads may go on their system. Last year, when the Church of Scientology had a site that explain what Scientology was really about pulled from the search results, I (and several others) retaliated by placing ads to the site. Google pulled them for the same reason - they don't allow ads that point to a site that is anti-anything. I'm sure they wouldn't allow ads for a site that was anti-Christian either.

You can boycott them if you want, but they are just running their business the way they see fit.

At this time, Google policy does not permit the advertisement of websites that contain "language that advocates against an individual, group, or organization."
Are we allowed to "advocate against" terrorists?
Or murders?
How about "advocating against" SUV owners, or cigarette smokers, or the Boy Scouts?

Did I miss where the Christian Courier went over Teresa's head? She has a boss, and surely Google has an appeals process. It should have been used before Jared Jackson wrote this. His willingness to badmouth Google over what may be an underrling's unauthorized or illconsidered decision says as much about him as it does about Google.

I hope that too many people don't boycott Google because Google is the only search engine that regularly sends traffic to my site. Without the traffic that I receive from Google, there'd be little point in my having a website. I think Google at one time was actively posting links to Free Republic discussion threads when the content of the thread matched the search words. Overall, I think Google has been good to the conservative movement. I agree with the poster who suggested contacting this woman's supervisor. Maybe she is misinterpreting the policy.

I NEVER use Google or for that matter any of the other popular search engines. I downloaded a free program named Copernic which searches all of the major online search engines simultaneously. It can be found at http://www.copernic.com but just make sure that you download the free version unless you want to pay for the pro version. I have been wondering why everyone on Free Republic mentions google instead of just using Copernic. If you can find out how to get hits from Copernic I'm sure your website would be more busy than it is now.

Why not reword your linked heading showing the positive slant on what the Bible has to say about your topic? I doubt they have the time to read each and every link submitted to them in their entirety.

Don't make it the anti gay link heading, but how wonderful the Bible is for being so straight-forward in defining abominations to G_d.

Just an idea...

You people are silly. Google didn't treat this advertiser any differently than all their others (I've had several ads pulled from Google for various reason). But somehow, when they treat The Christian Courier the same as everyone else, it's bigotry and worthy of a boycott! Too funny and, unfortunately, too typical.

OK, I'm pissed.

I read some place lately that google's French and German affiliates, google.fr and google.de, are going to stop linking their search engines to what they consider hate sites.

Every few months I need to repeat what I have been saying for about 15 years now:

Political diversity, Multiculturalism and ersatz "tolerance" will be the death of our society.

Uggghh! This is very, very disappointing in that I depend on Google (and Google News) quite a bit, as a research editor. Here's hoping that either Google come around, or someone builds a "better mousetrap."
