Personally, I don't think there's any doubt that regime change in Iraq is vital to the national security interests of America and its close allies, Israel and Great Britain. Saddam Hussein has always been a homicidal maniac

Yeah, but regime change in Iraq is only one step in the war against the Islamists.

The consequence of destroying Saddam is destabilization of Iran, Saudi, and others in the Middle East, as well as impeding money flows and arms to the PA and Pakistan.

Saddam is pivotal but personally incidental to the larger war.

After Iraq, down goes Iran, then massive pressure on the Saudis and Pakistanis, and perhaps Pakistan will even lose its nukes (whoops).

N. Korea will be dealt with in good time.

The Ricin situation in England connects the dots of rogue regime, WMD, terrorists, and plans to attack Western civilization. The Ricin was made by a group associated with al-Qaeda in Northern Iraq. That's where these thugs were testing the Ricin on animals, and at least one person, if media reports are to be believed. And make no mistake, in the tightly monitored Iraqi police-state, nothing happens unless Saddam approves, even in Northern Iraq. The chemical warfare(Ricin) was to be used against America's ally, Great Britian.

"Despite the recent media focus on war dissenters, polling still indicates that about two-thirds of the public supports the disarming of the Iraqi regime, even if it requires a military action to overthrow Saddam Hussein."

Not according to the drooling anti-war crowd.
