Predictibly, C-SPAN has chosen to show the replay of the maggot infested peacenik rally tonight so the Frontloaded 2004 Presidential Circus is pushed over to the deuce.
The Iowa schedule for today looks as follows:
3 of the 'Six pack' [Sens. Kerry and Gephardt plus ex-Governor Dean] are booked for the sold out campaign kickoff Linn Couny 'Sustaining Dinner' tonight live on CSPAN 2 at 7PM EST.
Governor Dean will address Democrat women activists today in Des Moines before the event tonight and have coffee with potential Democrats at Gwen's restaurant in Lisbon, Iowa on Sunday (freep opportunities abound!)
Rep. Dick Gephardt is scheduled to talk to the Iowa State Democratic Party Central Committee Headquarters in Fleur, IA at Noon Saturday, Governor Dean will also speak at the meeting.
Sen. Bob Kerry is planning a brunch for Democrat Party Activists Sunday in Des Moines after the Saturday Night banquet, as well as a planned lunch in Iowa City Sunday with dinner at a house party in Dubuque to finish the day.
Sounds like a busy weekend!

There's another Dem event tomorrow night also, I believe..
BTW, in glancing at C-span yesterday on and off..it seemed to me that they were promoting the protest broadcast incessantly......it looked like a CNN banner across the bottom..

I find this intriguing.
For the 1992 election, the first Dem to announce was Tsongas in Apr of 1991. Clinton didn't announce until Oct 4, 1991. In other words, Tsongas announced 18 months before the election and Clinton announced 12 months before the election.
The dems have six who have announced for a 2004 election in Jan 02. That is a full 20 months before the election.
My sense is that it is part of a strategy for leading anti-war rhetoric and attacking a popular president. If they say they're "disagreeing" with his "war policy" then they can undermine public confidence under the guise of "campaign" disagreements.

Interesting point, all of the primaries are frontloaded to the first two months of next year 2004..so we will probably know who the nominee will be by the first of next March!
This will definitely seem like the longest campaign in history

So you think the Rats get more cover with war criticism under the guise of '2004 campaign strategy?'
This might really backfire on them..

C-SPAN is also replaying the dinner tonight on Sunday at 6:30 PM EST and 9:30 PM EST.
Perhaps they will show Governor Dean trying to pick up votes at an empty coffee shop tomorrow morning! (sounds like an SNL sketch)

I think they will "criticize" the "strategy and planning" under the guise of running for the presidency.
If I were president, I would....(insert latest polling data conclusion about what 30% of the people are wondering.)
With 6 or more of them running, they can incessently criticize Bush while at the same time collectively appeal to large blocs of people.
If I were president I would....WORK FOR SADDAM'S EXILE...
If I were president I would .....BE MUCH MORE CONCERNED WITH KOREA...yada, yada, yada...
It is murder by a thousand small cuts rather than by one critical et tu Brute stabbing.

Additionally, with the major media clearly democratic, it enables them to incessently harp on the president under "campaign 2004" cover. They will carry every negative thought that every candidate has for 2 straight years.
The early date of this campaign too odd not to be a concerted effort to get this president.

I think it would be difficult to get away with that sort of talk while troops are fighting on the ground.
But I never underestimate how low the Dims will go.

No wonder why all of the Rats are coming out of the woodwork to announce 'expaloratory committees' for the White House.

Iowa State Democratic Party Central Committee Headquarters in Fleur, IAIf ol' Dickie-boy is gonna be in Fleur, Iowa - he'll be there all alone, with the clueless schedluer and pr people who promoted this location in the schedule. There is no such place. He's probably going to be at the DemonRat's state HQ, which is on Fleur Drive in Des Moines.

Many of the Dems moved up their announcements because of the Jan 27th date re Iraq..they felt their "message" would gget lost amid a war....

The dems are world socialists. They will go as low as they need to go.
The will say, We support our troops.....BUT BUSH SHOULD GIVE THEM A BIGGER PAY RAISE/SHOULDN'T SUBJECT THEM TO THIS KIND OF DANGER/SHOULD HAVE THE CHILDREN OF THE AFFLUENT PROTECTING US AS WELL
The media will say, in Campaign 2004 news today, candidate Senator Demonrat Toejam says "President Bush is ignoring our troops' hardships." Reporting from Kuwait is reporter John LieTongue. John can you tell us the basis of Sen Toejam's research? Yes, Dan, I can. Yada, yada, yada.
