SADDAM: WE'LL DEFEAT YOU
Saddam Hussein says Iraq is determined and ready to defeat any invasion, in a call to arms on the anniversary of the Gulf War in 1991.
He said that Western forces, which he described as "crows of evil", were still "harbouring evil" against Iraq 12 years after the war.
In a televised speech to his nation, Saddam said Iraq was fully mobilised and would defeat US troops at the gates of Baghdad if there was an invasion.
"We have determined and planned to defeat the aggressors. We have mobilised our abilities, including those of the army, people and leadership," he said.
"Baghdad, its people and leadership, is determined to force the Mongols of our age to commit suicide at its gates," Saddam said, referring to the Mongol armies who sacked the Iraqi capital in 1258 ending the Abbasid Caliphate.
The United States has massed forces in preparation for a possible invasion, accusing Saddam of developing weapons of mass destruction.
United Nations weapons inspectors returned to Iraq in November after a four-year absence and are due to report to the U.N. Security Council on January 27.
Saddam made no reference to the inspections in his speech. Not did he mention yesterday's discovery of empty chemical warheads.

The Mongols built a pyramid of Baghdadi heads in the city, since its inhabitants lacked the courage to fight.
Ol' Saddam wants to put up some resistance this time, and avoid the humiliation.
Maybe just ONE head should be...er...set down on a curb for pickup.

He said that Western forces, which he described as "crows of evil", were still "harbouring evil" against Iraq 12 years after the war. We (America) do not harbor evil against Iraq. We harbor thoughts of a post-Saddam Iraq and are willing to do what it takes to achieve that goal.

Maybe that's what baghdad is, a hidden nuke waiting to go off so as soon as American forces make it to the capital, BAM, in the biggest instance of suicidal/kamikazee style attacks. I just hope intelligence is putting a keen eye on movement of people in baghdad to keep something like that happening.

With apologies to Dave Barry:
You must admit that "Crows of Evil" would make a GREAT name for a rock band!

This man should, as a minimum, be lobotomized as soon as possible......with a .45 slug.
I have no doubt that when Bagdad is at last under siege a nuc will go off and we will be blamed for it. He truly does need to die as quickly as is possible.

If you have been watching the History Channel the last couple of nights you have may have heard the analyst who pointed out that the regular Iraqi "Abdul on the Street" thinks to this day that Iraq won the first Gulf War because expected American tanks never showed up in Baghdad. Sort of like we in this country remain convinced that we won the War of 1812 because, after burning Washington, the Redcoats got bored & went home.

I don't know about your comparison. The War of 1812 was a tactial draw (despite the burning of Washington) and a strategic victory for the United States. Despite the failure to incorporate Canada into the new US, the British lost their control of the forts and rivers in the Northwest territories, and their defeat at the Battle of New Orleans made sure that the Mississippi would remain in American control. The real reason the British wished to stop the war was commerce. They lost a lot of merchant ships to the US Navy and privateers...
