** 2003 KENTUCKY ELECTIONS UPDATE **
Time is running out for anyone who wants to file for a State Constitutional Office this year in Kentucky. The deadline is Tuesday, January 28th, at 4pm.
You have two weeks left. Folks, if you go to the Kentucky State Board of Elections , you will see that, right now, there are NO Republicans filed for the offices of State Auditor , State Treasurer , and State Agriculture Commissioner . Only ONE Republican (Jack D. Wood, Valley Station) has filed to run for Attorney General and only ONE Republican (Trey Grayson, Ft. Mitchell) has filed to run for Secretary of State . BTW, I think both these men could do wonderful jobs. You can find any of the job requirements for these positions by going to the Kentucky State Board of Elections' home page (linked above).
Regardless, we need good men and women running in these races, so that no Democrats (especially the liberal ones) are allowed to stroll into office without a fight. I am fully aware that, sometimes, candidates intentionally wait until the last day or so to file, for the sole purpose of seeing who their competition is. But, folks, we NEED candidates on the ballot. Term limits have made all of these (except for State Treasurer) open seats this year. That is an added bonus for the GOP! What better time than now to take these offices!
In 1999, there was NO Republican on the ballot for Secretary of State, Attorney General, Auditor, State Treasurer, or State Agriculture Commissioner. We cannot have this. Please talk to reputable, conservative friends who would make good candidates. The GOP has both U.S. Senators, 5 of 6 U.S. Rep.'s, and the State Senate. We need to not forfeit the State Constitutional Offices to the Dem's. The Governor's Race is definitely important (Go Virgil Moore and Don Bell!), but so are the other elected offices. The momentum is on our side now in Kentucky, in lieu of the many Patton and Henry scandals. Let's turn the tide! Let's take back Kentucky!!
I think you qualify on paper.
