Crackdown on Gay Public Sex = Homophobia

Efforts by campus cops to crack down on non-students who use public restrooms for random gay-sex encounters is being called homophobic by some folks in the Gay, Lesbian, Bisexual, Transgender and Questioning (GLBTQ) community, reports the Chronicle of High Education (subscription-only site).
After a number of complaints, officials at Boston University cracked down and began arresting violators on charges of indecent exposure or lewd and lascivious behavior. Other campuses have seen similar crackdowns.
But some gay students say persecuting participants in this so-called tearoom culture is discriminatory.
"Heterosexual couples exploring sex on lovers' lane is romanticized, but same-sex sex is treated differently, says Luke Jensenof the University of Maryland at College Park. The question of public versus private can be a shifting paradigm. Why is a bathroom stall considered a private space except when it comes to sex?"
Supporters say the practice also is an integral part of the coming out process for homosexuals.
"For some men, their whole connection with gay life stemmed from their experiences in bathrooms," says William L. Leap, a professor of anthropology at American University and the editor of the book, Public Sex/Gay Space. "Tearooms became the basis for social interactions, a way of getting into a friendship network."

Start carrying a can of spray that is typically used on animal wounds. Mainly rubbing alcohol and gingent(sp?) violet. Impossible to wash off.

Doesn't say much for a lifestyle in which partners first meet and fall in love while in a public crapper, does it?

Good point.
To: expat33
anything short of active participation in or vocal support for a homosexual lifestyle is considered homophobia anymore.

Imagine the nostalgic look that comes to these young lovers' eyes every time they get a whiff of Lysol deodorizer, or hear the sound of "their" toilet flushing. You just can't buy memories like that...

Gay, Lesbian, Bisexual, Transgender and Questioning The list keeps getting longer. "Questioning"? Is that the sexual version of being a "centrist"?

The text I emphasized gives the precise reason why these encounters must be prosecuted! For whatever reason, many young men remain unsure of their sexuality during their late teens and early twenties. The law ought to help protect them from "recruiting drives."
If they make a calculated choice to adopt the gay lifestyle later in life (and in private!) then that may be their business, but I don't like the idea of currently gay men desiring new partners being able to quickly pull a neophyte into stall and "initiate" him.

There is a high likely-hood that the groping hetero couples on "Lover's Lane" at least know each other's first names, and are not just randomly swapping and creating new STDs with strangers.

"For some men, their whole connection with gay life stemmed from their experiences in bathrooms," Obviously they have not been instructed in the proper use of their plumbing.

"For some men, their whole connection with gay life stemmed from their experiences in bathrooms," That's just the type of brilliant PR statement that's sure to convince the public to support his cause.

Homosexuals insist on being held to a diferent standard, while also insisting on being accepted by the mainstream of society. I live in Milwaukee. Does anyone remember the Dahlmer case? The canabal that liked to eat his "lovers" (and I'm not talking about oral sex here)? Well, about a year or so before he was finally caught he should have been caught. A young Hmong boy, I think about 13 - 14 escaped from him, the kid was bleeding from the back door, naked, and disoriented. Dahlmer met the police and explained that this boy was his lover and he was drunk. The cops let them go so that Dahlmer could "take care of him".
We had a case of admited statutory rape, and supplying a minor with booze (actually the kid was drugged). But since they were homo lovers (supposedly), that was all ok with the cops; it's part of their "CULTURE"!
As far as the comparison between "lover's lane" and meeting in a bathroom, everyone going to "lover's lane" is there for the same reason, not so with a bathroom! If they want to get in their own vehicle, and take a drive to park; fine. But I don't want to hear THAT kind of maoaning and groaning in the next stall as me!
Odd, they wonder why so many people don't want them around.

Only last week they were offended by laws in the books that said they can't...um... in the "privacy of their own homes". Now they want to do it in public bathrooms. Imagine what they will want next week.

"Heterosexual couples exploring sex on lovers' lane is romanticized, but same-sex sex is treated differently,Lovers Lane is not a place for multiple indiscriminate acts of sodomy with strangers. Its sad, not to mention sick, that mentally ill homosexuals always try and equate their wrong behavior with normal behavior, its a coping mechanism for their pathology.

Gee, the next time my wife and I want to "do it" while on the road, I'll try to talk her into using the local restroom. Cheaper than a Hotel.
Of course I'll probably be sexually frustrated for some time after making the suggestion...
If my kid told me he/she was in a public restroom and some sickos were having sex in there, I would be compelled to visit the place and conduct some "counselling".
