[history]
After an excruciating two-year bust, a technology recovery finally seems to be under way, but it's weak and hardly what Silicon Valley observers have hoped for.
Sales among the largest 150 companies in Silicon Valley rose a modest 3.6 percent between the summer quarter and the fall quarter last year, particularly in computers, software and biotech. Early reports show sales continued to rise slowly through the end of the year, suggesting the technology sector probably hit bottom in the summer of 2002.

He expects this to reverse this year, giving the economy an ``abnormally high recovery potential.'' Once the economy begins to rebound, and optimism returns, then the tech sector will take off, Paulsen says.
And he bases this "expectation" on what?

Yep, the Murky News is as overly optimistic as any other self-serving bubble participant. When a whole bunch of companies in the area are reporting their worst or among-the-worst quarters in years and years, and by random chance this number happens to be 3.6% better than a horrible number, it's time to shout from the rooftops and ring the church bells that the worst is over. Even if it is, and I doubt it, it's still nowhere near "recovery" levels.
