It is actually quite frequent. After a great trauma, which this certainly is, or a great loss, which we don't know yet, yes, you can feel so numb, so without emotion, that you are simply amazed. Well, you would be, if you could feel amazement.

It's possible, in cases of major depression, for example, not even to feel hunger before you've eaten, satisfaction after you've eaten, sleepiness, or restfullness. Whether Scott has killed her or not (my opinion on this case is "innocent until proven guilty"), he has had one hell of a time lately. Give him the benefit of the doubt -- it's the Christian and the legal thing to do.

I agree. Having seen close up the merciless hounding of an innocent person after a heinous crime, I'm speechless and numb that so many people here are so willing to believe the worst of someone WITH NO EVIDENCE.

"innocent until proven guilty"

Jiggyboy, did you miss the memo? We don't do that here on Free Republic. Instead, we let the media drag us along in their dramatic speculation, and then we condemn people purely on our suspicions and hunches.

Get with it, man. The husband is not acting right, so there you have it! He did it.

I hope to God no one I know is ever found dead. Not just because of the loss, but because of the lynching I could expect in the media (and here on FR.)

Max, sorry you had to experience this phenomenon close up.

That just doesn't jive with me. Sorry, I have been around enough 'seasoned' officers, that I have been taught quite a bit on street sense in police work
And no, I am not a cop!

I agree, unless a person has been faced with a traumatic event, whether it is a crime or an accident, they have no idea how it feels. I was numb & unresponsive for several weeks after a tragic event in my life. The Book of Job in the Bible deals with this phenomenon for any who are interested.

Thanks for pointing that out jiggyboy. I am so sick of these people who ?know? the answer... Innocent until proven guilty.

Give it time people. I would hate to see you all judged by people acting like yourselves if you found yourself in this tragic situation.
