A conservative preacher once told me he thought "a little socialism was good." I was dumbfounded. He did not realize this was tantamount to saying a little evil is good.

In the early 1900s socialism was regarded as a crazy idea invented by revolutionaries and Marxists to disrupt civilization and bring down governments. But today the majority of Americans behave as socialists

He has no point that hasn't been made, ad nauseum, for 40/50 years now. The SS 'system' exists because the political system wanted it. Don't blame those who have fought that system for forty years or more.

So let us get outraged and rant a bit and then help us channel our anger into your plan for doing away with the theft. You do have a plan, don't you!? After 40/50 years of this someone has to have come up with something by now.

And so are your grandparents, etc. -- Do you run about at family gatherings calling them thieves?

I'm not very popular at family gatherings. This might have something to do with it. My parents are nearing SS age and are carefully avoiding the subject. I sent them a copy of this article though.

I think it's a distinction without much difference. If the government controls your property, it isn't private. I just found it interesting to see how the left was/is able to re-define the debate by subtle, and not so subtle, language shifts: liberal>conservative, anti-communism>McCarthyism, patriotism>jingoism, etc.

The women voting issue and the non-land owner voting issue are pretty big.
I was not around when these decisions were made, so I lack the first person experience. It seems to me these two issues introduced unneeded emotion and self-interest into the equation.
We are not the country our founders envisioned.

Does that power appear in the same Constitution as "the right to keep and bear arms for hunting and sporting purposes"?

You disagree with the court's conclusion that there is no contractual right to social security benefits? I don't suppose you could manage to explain why.
