He had breakfast Thursday with billionaire financier Warren Buffett to discuss how to deal with the nation's economy. The two are longtime friends.
Early last week, some Democrats I work with in South Florida were talking about getting calls from Graham family members about supporting his run .

He will be president when hell freezes over. Unless, of course, he's planning on stealing the election, assassinating the current leadership, or mounting a bloody coup.

If he really runs to the right of Bush on homeland defense AND if we are attacked again, he's correct-
He will be President.

I read somewhere that the reason a lot of these people run for president is that they can raise campaign funds, and if they don't win, they get to keep them. Ditto with the federal funds, if they qualify.

Perhaps the United States of Europe would be more fitting.

Another senate seat soon to be occupied by the G.O.P. Exactly my thoughts...an opportunity to increase the margin.
Of course, the people that elect these noodle heads would prolly just elect "another" noodle head.

Well, he better win in 2004 if he plans on being president. There is no way in hell he will win the democrat primary in 2008 when Hillary runs. All the billionaire friends in the world won't save him from Arkansacide. Hillary will be the 2008 democrat candidate. [period]
I don't know how the Clinton's got so much power, but they have it. Most senators spend years as state legislators, governors, congressman and THEN become senators. Once they are senators, they usually spend years working their way up the power structure to get any influence. And yet, Hillary, with less than 1 term under her belt and no prior public office holds power among the democrats top ranks. Of course, Hillary has huge negatives among the vast right wing conspiracy, but the Clintons haven't lost yet. Probably the only way to beat her is to depress the white male democrat vote. They aren't likely to switch to republican just because of Hillary, but they could be convinced not to vote for 1 election.

But it struck me just in the last Florida Senate election, the gop was being 'noodle heads' in selecting Bill McCollum--now I didn't pay much attention to the race and don't know much about this guy, but he didn't strike me as being a top-notch, formidible candidate. I could be wrong. But if I'm not, our party shoots itself in the foot by nominating weak sisters, as it did in some states (e.g. MT, LA), as recently in this past election. If it's because there was a total dearth of good contenders, that's one thing, but if that wasn't the case, shame on us.

Do not underestimate this man. He is an accomplished politico, extremely left wing. He comes across as mild-mannered and deliberate, rarely seeks the spotlight save for the occasional Sunday pundit show. We must keep an eye on him.

[period] I have a strong suspicion that the Clintons don't really want a dem to win in '04. If that happens, the new face of the democratic party would be that person who managed to beat Bush, and not the two of them any longer. The Clintons of course would love nothing better if they could regain absolute power again as soon as 2004, but it's not the right time, I think they'd want the dem presidential nominee to take a dive, and they can remain the sole face of the party till Hill runs in '08.

I don't know how the Clinton's got so much power, but they have it.Ruthless blackmail (Remember FBI files?) Ambitious politicians can be made to do a lot of things when someone has the power to destroy them with what could be revealed - and a proven track record of being utterly without mercy or remorse in doing so.
