The more things change...the more they stay the same.
They are very curious to observe our latest weapons and methods.
Nothing new here.

"Who said; I will bury you?" Isn't he the one they put out to pasture on a remote island?

Iraqi Spy Agencies?????, ROFLMAO, Saddam doesn't trust anyone enough to send them overseas to spy on anyone, He is too busy spying on his own Generals.

MY FATHER LOVES NIKITA KRUSCHEV
(Tommy Makem}
One fine day in May, the sun was on the sea
I went for a swim, I took along my bottle
Swam among the waves so very calm indeed
And green as all the grass that grows from Howth to Dalkey
Swam around Killiney Bay, lovely day
Down below I see a couple of hungry fishes
Then I went along my way, rounding the bay
I thought I'd better say a prayer for dear old daddy
Chorus:
Holy mo, me father loves Nikita Kruschev
Holy moly me, he loves Nikita Kruschev
Holy moly me!
Stood upon a rock and looked out on the sea
Sleeping like a baby long before he's born
I felt the morning breeze so very sweet indeed
Like fishes in the night and seaweed in the morning
Took a towel and dried me back, lit up a fag
Watched the smoky blue go blowing out in the sunlight
Out beyond Killiney Bay, over the sea
I thought I'd better say a prayer for dear old daddy
Chorus
I am happy here, my bottle is in my hand
Half a quart of beer is all I really need
I whistled out today, today I never planned
Never knew that I could do without my brother
Or me sister or me aunt, bad as they are
Never knew that I could do without my mother
Threw my bathing suit away, those who have seen it
Once will never mind it, the others won't recognise it
Chorus
Ran along the sand and jumped from rock to rock
Going to get a tan in places I never dreamed of
Anyone I meet will surely get a shock
Unless they're doing the same as me this lovely evening
Turning cartwheels in the sand, over I go
Standing on my head and landing on my bottom
Such a lovely day today, happy I am
That I've got more to do than worry about my father
Chorus

"Military analysts pointed out that the defence of "national interests" may also refer to the Russian military's desire to conduct surveillance on both sides during any conflict." I like the pic MYJ1288 posted - LOL!
Putin is a sneaky one though - he didn't rise from a KGB Colonel to the President of Russia for the "Kindness Award."
Anyone thinking for one second the KGB is in "rest mode" should check out THIS (Soviet Spymaster Kalugin on Bush, CIA Complacency, and Enemies of America.)

This could be purposefully leaked info designed to make the Iraqis believe the false intel that the Russians are giving them. Also, these could be rogue agents acting outside of Putin. (I'm assuming that Bush wasn't totally fooled when he said that he trusted Putin in his soul)

Thanks for the heads up!

"Hopefully we have only been practicing 'keep your friends close and your enemies closer." I don't see how in the "Big Picture" of things Russia would want to be anything but our ally.
We both share an equally hateful enemy in the Islamic jihad.
Russia in places like Chechnya, and the U.S. in places like N.Y.C.

Perhaps I should have qualified that with.. if this is true...
It is in their best interests to be on our side, but maybe they still need to learn that. They've come a long way in the last few years but there are still old habits (and some believers) in power.
Or, as someone else suggested, this is purely disinformation(/wishful thinking on the part of the press :)).

I believe Vlad is a traitor to the commieplot outlined by Golitsyn and is an enemy to the old-guard.
