Agree with everything you posted. When I went into labor with our first, it was the middle of the night. I decided to take a quick shower before waking up hubby. He heard the shower, came in, I delivered the good news AND.....he went back to bed! When he DID wake back up to take me to hospital, he was dressed in his suit (2AM). Figured we'd have the baby and then he could get in a full day of work! Men just don't behave the way we women think they should and that doesn't mean they aren't doting husbands or fathers.

My husband would never have called my OB if I had been missing. NEVER!

I also don't think it odd that he stored his fishing gear in the baby's room.

I agree that the husband not knowing the OBGYN's name (where was that reported btw - I hadn't heard about this detail ) wouldn't be that unusual.

I think my husband might have recalled the names of my doctors....(but he has a good memory most of the time)
ANDI know I would've left the DR's name and # handy by the phone (being obsessive esp w/the first pregnancy!)

I'd more expect him to call the hospital that she was to deliver at if he really was worried she went into labor etc...he surely would've known that, they had little time left to wait for the blessed event.

Unfortunately all this speculation is just that, and I fear he already knew where she was when he called police etc.....

When I went into labor with our first...My husband insisted on driving the opposite direction from the hospital to visited a gun shop in another town to pick up a part that he had had crafted! We got to the parking lot of the shop and I was just screaming for him to turn around and take me to the hosipital. Of course the baby didn't come for another 12 hours, but it seemed urgent at the time.

He did something weird with every child. On my last one we had to drive through a tunnel. It was a rainy night and there was an accident right outside the tunnel with an ambulence, police, and flashing lights. Instead of slowing down, he floored the accelorator. I screamed, "What are you doing?" He answered that the accident victim would be going to the same hospital and he wanted to get me there first!

That little caper scared the wits out of me so that labor totally stopped, but the baby was born 5 hours later -- but so suddenly that they did not have time to administer any anesthesia.

We're still married -- 44 years later. We haven't killed each other, although I'm sure that it has been contemplated from time to time.
