Berkeley Marina Search Finds 'Object' That Could Be Body
Modesto police searched the Berkeley Marina again Thursday using sonar in hopes of finding clues in the disappearance of Laci Peterson.
The search revealed an object that is possibly a human body, according to authorities.
Police officials said that weather and diver fatigue did not permit divers to examine the object Thursday. They say that, weather and conditions permitting, divers will attempt to examine the object and determine what exactly it is on Saturday.
Peterson, 27, was last seen at 9:30 a.m. on Dec. 24 by her husband, Scott Peterson. She is eight months pregnant.
Scott Peterson has told authorities that he went to the Berkeley marina and spent Dec. 24 fishing on San Francisco Bay. Police have previously searched the marina area but are now using side-scan sonar borrowed from the San Mateo County Sheriff's Department.
"They can take images underwater within a 50-150 foot area," Modesto Police Department spokesman Doug Ridenour said.

Sonar had detected object, has approximate signature of body.. It's not just for locating fish, I reckun.
My moneys on it being junk, or they have a badass sonar and operator. My old company lost a 38 foot ER boat (with 2 brand new 200HP Merc's, with 10 hours on em at that) over at the edge of the shipping channel near Redwood City. We had guys sonar the crap out of the area for 2 days and couldn't pinpoint it...

That is very true. If it is a body, from what I've read, it could be somebody else.

most people are not murdered by strangers, but by family, friends or business associates.True. Who else knows you well enough to hate you that much?

Could he have rented the boat alone, and told her he'd pick her up on the pier? Or left her already dead near the water and grabbed her and then sunk her?

This makes no sense. Why go to the Berkeley Marina, kill your wife and unborn son, dump her body there and then go back and tell the police that you were at the Berkeley Marina??
Scott Peterson could have said he was anywhere that day and come up with some receipt, etc. to attempt to prove his story.
But to lead them to where the body is? It just doesn't make sense that they'd find her there.

What lake? The lake he supposedly went fishing at? According to the husband he went to Berkley Marina [no jokes...many good republicans fish out of Berkley], launched his boat and then went fishing at Brooks Island.
I have spent an inordinate amount of time plying the waters he speaks of. By my judgment as a waterman, the boat pictured in the media, was in no way all weather capable for that area...one would be tempting fate if that was norm...I found that striking and odd
To: Howlin
Dunno that either, but if it turns out to be her, he's one of the stupidest wife killers I've heard of in a long time!
Too bad for him he's not a congressman...they'd still be waiting for a convenient time to talk to him.
