The population shown is the CDC's estimate of the age cohort under consideration, not the total population. I assume (but don't know for sure) that they are making use of the Y2K census data. BTW, these data are from 2000, so they should be able to use very nearly the raw data from the census. Subsequent years have to be 'massaged' to deal with population changes.

Anyone have the actual table of grades? I'm thinking it's about time for me to publish my "Helping Criminals, Inc." handy guide to states which allow people to be robbed with impunity.

If you go to Absalom's post #51, there is a lot of interesting data on the link.

I'm a hell of a lot safer in Idaho than in cesspool maryland or its necrotic neighbor, Washington DC.

I MY SELF WOULD RATHER LIVE IN ONE OF THOSE STATES WITH A "D" OR "F" RATING BECAUSE THEY HAVE LOWER GUN DEATHS. THOSE STATES HAVE A HIGHER PERCENTAGE OF HUNTER AND IN MY MIND THEY ALSO HAVE MORE GUN CONTROL AND GUN SAFETY. TO RATE/GRADE EACH STATE YOU WOULD HAVE TO LOOK AT EACH STATE AND IF THE PEOPLE IN THAT STATE ARE HUNTER, NON-HUNTER, ANTI-GUN, OR PRO-GUN. SO IN MY EYES THE GRADING SYSTEM THAT IS BEING USED IS GOOD FOR SOME STATES BUT NOT ALL THAT GREAT FOR OTHER STATES. THE MAIN THING IS THAT THEY NEED TO LOOK AT WHAT THE PEOPLE ARE DOING AND HOW THEY ARE RAISED.
