January 9, 2003 -- The go-go dancer who's being sought in the Newark House of Horrors child-abuse case refused to return the youngsters to their mother because she wanted the welfare money, relatives charged yesterday.
"She was getting money to take care of the kids," Lynella Gaddie said of Sherry Murphy, the exotic dancer entrusted with taking care of three boys by their mother, Melinda Williams.

Mom's pal nabbed.
January 9, 2003 -- One of the three young boys at the center of Newark's grisly child-abuse case was sexually molested by a male friend of their mother's, prosecutors charged yesterday.Joseph Reese, 45, was arraigned yesterday in Essex County Court on charges of sexual assault and child endangerment for allegedly molesting one of Melinda William's four sons in August 2001 while he was living with them in Irvington, N.J.
His arrest came four days after two of the boys - Raheem Williams, 7, and Tyrone Hill, 4 - were found starving and dehydrated in a locked basement room, and three days after the mummified remains of Raheem's twin, Faheem, was found in a plastic storage bin in the basement.
The three boys had been living in Newark with their mother's cousin, go-go dancer Sherry Murphy, since March, when Williams was jailed on a 5-year-old child abuse conviction.
A fourth son, Faquan, 11, has been living at the Children's Village, a residential treatment center in White Plains.
Prosecutors did not identify which of the four boys Reese is charged with molesting.
Williams' sister, Phillise Williams, yesterday told The Post that one of the boys had approached her two years ago and "complained that someone was bothering him sexually and making him do things he didn't want to do."
She said the youngster expressed concern that his brothers might also have been sexually assaulted.
"I brought this up to his mom, and she said it wasn't true," said Phillise Williams, adding that she also "mentioned it to the [Department of Youth and Family Services] worker who was investigating the case, but I'm not sure she did anything about it."
"I guess I should have believed him," said the boy's aunt.
When a public defender entered a plea of not guilty, Reese was ordered held on $100,000 bail.
After the hearing, Assistant Essex County Prosecutor Carolyn Wright said Reese was a friend of Williams and Murphy and told cops he was not romantically involved with either.

My God, what kind of people would do this. Did they have not one ounce of mercy or compassion?
I know one thing, Sherry Murphy's punishment should START with being kept in these same conditions...
