Well, it's warmer here in Wisconsin right now than in Lucknow. 45 degrees there; 48 here. El Niño strikes again!
Can you imagine the chaos over there as everyone tries frantically to keep warm. Cold? What's that? Blankets? Jackets? Ditto.

Hey now...who told you that's where my nick came from?
"When the campers are Clampers, even the bears watch out."

(you have to agree it's unique...)

No one ... calling for Elmer and Petunia is an old Boy Scout camping tradition. And Yes I am a happy Clamper.
The one thing better than being a Humbug (Grand Poobah) is being an x-Humbug ... How do you know of Clampers ????
To: clamper1797
Ah. I mentioned it to another Freeper on an APOD thread a while back. Anyway, my cousin tagged me with the nick back about 1970 or so - yes he (and my brother) were in the Scouts. This was in Southern California. My brother refused the "Elmer" nick, though.
IIRC, we discussed Clamper stuff way back when. Remember, I mentioned the "Pair O' Dice" Chapter 7-11? Used to work up in Magalia/Paradise Pines, and met a LOT of them. Also I said that Clampers consumed more adult beverages than the Shriners. You said 'Yes, much much more.'.
We don't live in California anymore; if we did, I would be tickled if poorman was invited to the ECV brotherhood. He's a card.

Somebody needs to start keeping a "people killed by the earth being too cold" vs. "people killed by the earth being too warm" scorecard. The OISM folks have been saying for a long time that global warming would decrease human suffering.
To: petuniasevan
Are you sure I'm the Clamper you had this dicussion with ... There are a few out here KG9Kid ... Publius6961 ... 1redshirt and knews_hound are all clampers.
I do know 7-11 chapter pretty well. My Dad lived in Oroville (Bear Creek) and my friend owns the Double Eagle Deli in Paradise.

Opps Sorry bout that ......

Maybe so. I'm never good with names, nick or real. It could have been 1redshirt. I've got a mild case of CRS Syndrome, can'tcha tell? ;-)

so much for global warmingThink how many lives in India could have been saved, if only more people in America were driving SUVs!
Liberals blame conservatives for wanting to kill school children with polluted water. We need to blame them for causing people to freeze to death in India, because of their opposition to global warming.

Warm here, cold there. Same temps, different climate. There it's a cold wave, a freak thing. Here it's record warmth for January.
It all evens out over distance and time. No warming.

(They used to call it the Greenhouse Effect until people remembered plants THRIVE in a greenhouse...)

I've got CRS too. I'd watch that old pervert and reformed pinko commie guy 1redshirt. I hear he has a predilection for barnyard animals ...
BTW I was his sponser into the Clampers. His wife and I have some pretty heated discussions. She's WAY left of Lenin.

Its Global Warming! Algore was obviously right!
To: petuniasevan
Maybe we should send some UN workers to teach them about layering!
To: petuniasevan
I had to scrape ice from my car this morning!
To understand how horrible an experience that is, it is important to know I live near in the Tampa Bay area.No gloves, and the car heater does not work!
Obviously no where near as horrible as people dying from cold weather, but we have had a rash of fires from people using cheap electric heaters to try and keep warm.
El Nino strikes again.

I DIDN'T have to scrape ice off the car windshield this morning!
To understand how horrible an experience that is, it is important to know that I live near Green Bay, WI. My gloves are gathering dust, and the car heater is sitting unused!
Obviously not as bad as frost in Tampa, but the snowmobile sales here are way down, and all the winter festivals in Wisconsin and Minnesota have been canceled due to lack of snow - and it's too warm to MAKE snow!
It's ridiculous - it's still 48 degrees here. I had to go around in shirt sleeves - just too warm for a sweater.

Yeah, I saw that the big freeze is incoming tomorrow. Maybe it'll be in the low teens 24 hours from now.
Did you notice the California flag on my profile page? I was born and raised in SoCal. Wisconsin weather is still a novelty for me.
