Are you referring to the outrageous imbalance that included soundbites of two 'Rats (including that demagogue blatant liar Kent Conrad) blasting the crap out of President Bush's economic stimulus proposal without a single voice from the Republican rational economics-literate side? I'm sure the same newscast went to all affiliates across the country, so cast your net wider.

I e-mailed the ABC VP in charge of radio news, Chris Berry (chris.j.berry@abc.com), several months ago on another egregious misrepresentation, and he did appear to have reprimanded Gil Fox who was the news reader involved at that time (just noticed that the same incompetent Gil Fox was the news reader on just now at midnight here in SF, so he may have been the one at fault in the 10 and 11 pm newscasts as well). So let them have it, if that's what you're driving at.

You got it. The bias has always been clear and present, but the newscasts I caught yesterday would make the Pravda guys blush.

The problem with casting the net wider: ABC runs several top of the hour news feeds--e.g., one for KSFO, one for KGO, etc. I can't be sure which feed a particular station airs.

Sorry for the mysterious nature of my post, just had a second and wanted to get it up. The news cast in question went something like this:

{News Stinger}

ANCHOR: "Good Evening, President Bush unveils his economic stimulus package today; democrats don't like it."

CLIP 1: "CA-D, Sen. Barbara Boxer saying something along the lines that the plan is a bust for the middle class, a boondoggle for the rich and a bad decision for the country."

CLIP 2: "Dem. operative saying how horrible the plan is"

ANCHOR: "Economist, Joe Blow, agrees:"

CLIP 3: "Economist I never heard of saying how bad it will be and how it is the total wrong thing for the country."

ANCHOR: Moves on to next story.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Yes, you read correctly. The PRESIDENT OF THE UNITED STATES releases a major policy initiative and the "news" anchor merely states the fact that the plan was announced, then proceeds to use three "expert" actualities to undermine the president's plan--again, without even providing a single detail of the plan...and no quote from a pro-Bush economist or a Repbulican member of Congress.
And THIS on the conservative station...
I heard this newscast and had the same reaction. Its par for the course.
I wouldn't blame the local staff at KSFO, though. Which feeds to run and where is decided at the corporate level.
