[history]
A Detroit police officer with a knife cut off the finger of a 45-year-old woman he was trying to handcuff in a parking lot on 8 Mile.
The police, who were in plainclothes, said she was resisting arrest. The woman, Joni Gullas of Detroit, said Monday that she thought she was being carjacked.

More warm fuzziness from America's worst, most corrupt city.

Well... at least they got the story headline right - if I had written it, I would have titled it, "Woman gives cops the finger"
To: AK2KX
Now all we have to do is wait for the investigation and the "good police work" conclusion. If he hadn't hauled her out of the van and cut off her finger she might just have been able to pick up her friends and go to breakfast. Then the "special burglary patrol" would have had to go home without an arrest. Couldn't have that.

Guess she'll never get "fingered" for any crime......

Before lashing out in anger, she should take a deep breath and count to nine.

Hard to imagine the thought processes of an Officer who would use a knife so casually and up close to someone; with such disastrous margins for error. . .
Why did he not just demand she remove her coat; hand-cuff her; put her IN the car and throw the coat over her and 'drive on'. . .
. . .incredible; though I am inclined to beleive the 'more ' of this Officers story than the more innocuous version of the victim, as to it's unfolding.
In any case, Detroit will pay. . .

Plainclothes policemen have no business approaching citizens at night who are not committing crimes and demanding anything. This woman had every reason to be fearful that a crime was going to be committed against her.
Arguably, there was.

And well they should. How about the prosecutors going after the officers involved. It is doubtful that the Detroit P.D. has a policy that allows an officer to produce a knife during the course of an arrest.
The police state at work again? Aren't the police to serve and protect, not abuse and detach digits.

I have a feeling this woman has already placed a call to Geoffrey Fieger!
To: The Energizer
Did you know that Fieger cut short his Caribbean vacation to start suing for the stomach stampling that killed that Detroit City Councilwoman? ( Her name escapes me right now).
One another note the Huddle Lounge is a big hooker hangout.

"Oh, my God, it hurts. I might as well have cut the whole hand off."
I'm sure it does hurt, but take your meds and calm down a bit. This ludicrous statement shows you to be on the hysterical side.
