SAN FRANCISCO (AP) - New York Giants tight end Jeremy Shockey threw a cup of ice water over his head and splashed a child in the first quarter of the NFC playoffs against the San Francisco 49ers on Sunday. The emotional Shockey, who often alienates opposing fans and players by his demonstrative nature, was being heckled by fans at the time. Giants spokesman Pat Hanlon said no one was hurt, and the rookie tight end was not restrained by security.
It happened shortly after Shockey thought linebacker Julian Peterson had held him on an incomplete third-down pass.
"I think it was an act of frustration," Hanlon said.
The boy was given a football by the Giants.

Well, let's see--
We are giving up our Redskins season tickets after having them since they started selling season tickets. So, I have been around the NFL for quite a long time. It has devolved into a different game: unpleasant fans, unpleasant players, unpleasant venues, unpleasant prices, unpleasant coaches, and unpleasant owners (especially Washington and Dallas) etc.

It is amazing how things come back around. My parents used to go watch professional football at Griffith Stadium when the seats were a dollar each. All their friends looked at them like they were crazy, as no civilized person went to watch pro football in those days. It was regarded with the same disdain as professional wrestling.
After a great run spanning several decades, professional football has come full circle and is quickly gaining ground on professional wrestling in the quest to be the lowest common denominator of sports. "Professional" is a misuse of the word when referring to either of them.

He is the biggest a$$hole I have ever seen in a NFL uniform.

Gee, with NFL players that have been arrested for anything from running dope to beating their wives, etc. and you deem TO to be the worst of the worst, eh? Lol, okay.

Maybe I misunderstood and it's his bombastic showmanship you don't like. Lol, are you still a 'Skins fan? Perhaps that would explain your jaundiced view of the NFL.
