Yes, I recognize the Discover article was a bit biased. Technically, however, the quote that " but such procedures are rare and done only in emergency" when refering to late term abortions may be true -- for Denmark -- which is the basis for the study. I have no knowledge of the percentage of late term abortions in Denmark. Since those Nordic countries have socialized medicine that works (expensive, but it does work - they have a small, ethnically homogenous population with essentially no illegal immigration to load down their social services) it may be that they do a lot of abortions (although I would like to know Denmark's abortion rate compared to the US), but mainly all in the 1st trimester.

The statistics you list (15K late term abortions/year) are for the US. I would prefer to see that number as zero, and I hope that with Republicans in Congress we may head that way. But I'm not holding my breath. Congress, as Samual Clemens said, is America's only native criminal class.

One horrific thing pushing a higher percentage of late term (read after the thirteenth week of womb time) infanticides is the fetal tissue harvesting industry in America ... with 'research institutions' buying the body parts to the tune of a billion + dollar industry now. The harvesters are seeking healthy, well defined tissues to send their buyers, and the brochures advertise such tissues and whole cadavers available right up to term (birth week).
