Frankly, the only passages of Tolkien's work that I really savored, and that I suspect he really enjoyed writing, were those relating to feasts, cooking, eating, drinking and smoking.

The man taught me, as a teenager, to relish the sensory. Well, at least sensory experiences as far as the higher regions of my body were concerned.
