I agree. The movie was dumbed down and inferior to the FOTR. I mean c'mon - Gimli as comedy relief?

"Gimli as comedy relief?"

I loved that and given the dark and heavy nature of the story line itself I thought that the humor along with the love scene was a great way to take a break from the intensity which could get overwhelming otherwise.

I hated that to and also the way they made him so immoble. Just because he was short and stalky didn't mean he couldn't be nimble quick and nimble as well. Jackson also made Pippin and Merry commic relief. In FOTR they were looking goofey and moronic complaining about not getting second breakfast and noonsies etc. after they get chased by the second scariest thing roaming Middle Earth (Ringwraiths.)

While I have read the books numerous times and can pick apart where Jackson changes the story and puts lines from other parts of the book into the situation, I think he has done a masterful job so far. I can't wait to see the Return of the King!
