This football season I have seen teams from several PUBLIC colleges praying and national TV actually showed it. I've wondered if someone wanting their name in print or a pay-off would sue.
There were those two whiney VMI cadets Neil Mellen and Paul Knick who were suing VMI because some sudents were permitted to pray (even though they were not required). Perhaps they lost and this has discouraged others.

and attended YSU for some graduate courses.......(great music school!)My brother and I both went to YSU. He for music and I for English Lit. Ron Jaworski was the quarterback during my school days.
But you know what? I don't think God really cares about college football. Or boxing, baseball, NASCAR or the NBA.

You know what? I agree.
But God does care about the character and the testimony of those who play and coach college football, and those of us who cheer for the teams....
(For 20 years after Ron Jaworski graduated from YSU and was playing in the NFL, my Dad would say, "Ron Jaworski, Youngstown boy" every time he talked about him. :o)

My son got a copy of the Special Edition Sports Illustrated. This edition was all about OSU and their season. Inside was a two page photo of what looks like the entire team, on their knees, being led in prayer by one of the players. I was really touched by that.

VICTORY BUMP!!!
Hmmm, listening to the coach's post-game comments on national TV, it is apparent that he at least believes in damnation.
What an interesting choice of words in which to showcase his Christianity.

I thought the same thing. It's the band's motto, but not a good choice, IMO. I'll chalk it up to the excitement of the moment, and leave it at that.
He's a fine coach, and a fine man.

Well thats dam, not damn....hehehehe...GO BUCKS!!!!!!....But when i heard him say that i knew some one would say something like your post...GO BUCKS!!!!

ITA! That saying has been around for decades so a few wait for Ohio State to win the National Title to complain. Damn is not considered a cuss word unless you think it is so. It is used to show emphasis. GO Bucks!
My house is still rocking from last night and tomorrow, it will be a tense time for us, too. Go Browns!

I confess to praying that God would enable the Buckeyes to play to the best of their abilities. I consider my prayers answered.
I'm 46. I was 12 when Kern, Stillwagon, Tatum, Otis, Brockington and the rest of the Immortals led the Buckeyes to a national championship at the expense of SC and OJ -- Heisman and all.
I questioned whether I would ever see such a great day again. I thank God that he has allowed me to live this long.
How fitting that this achievement came at the opening of Ohio's bicentennial. What a way for a proud state to inaugurate the celebration of 200 years of greatness.
It's not only appropriate that a believer be at the helm of Ohio State football, it's desperately needed. For the sake of these boys, thank God that Jim Tressel is the one helping to shape them into men.
Ohio State's AD recommended Tressel for the job. He was hired by the university's Board of Trustees. But in my judgment, the real appointment to that post was effected by a Being far more powerful than even Ohio State's Front Four.

I prayed that I got through that game! I had to walk away a couple times because it was so nerve-wracking. I expected a loss for OSU but when I saw how good they were playing, I was in awe and as excited for a game as ever. I forgot about Ohio Bicetennial and it is appropriate. I'm anxious about the Brown's game tomorrow and maybe I better start praying for the Bengals. It seems that only divine intervention will allow them to score, let alone win.

As a Christian and as a member of TBDBITL, I did not take offense to his words. TBDBITL (pronounced TA BIDDLE and
stands for The Best Damn band In the land) is a phrase coined by Woody and is the marching band's informal name.
I for one, was excited to hear him say that. My wife
and I stayed up late to watch the locker room reports and
we were both pleased to hear the humility and grace shown by the players. More than one openingly proclaimed their faith in Christ and used their open forum to give God the credit and all the glory.
