Um. The problem is, there never was a Senate trial; the Senate just went through the motions to humor the children in the House. It's still an open question how long a real trial, with evidence and all that stuff, would have taken.

Good point. The idea that the Senate, "led" by Traitor Lott, would simply dismiss the charges was apparently so outrageous that even the media toadies never anticipated it.
