the only thing i could add to his excellent admonitions would be:

carry an insanely bright small flashlight... (Surefire E1 is an example)... some of them are kinda pricey... but well worth having. hold it in your weak hand with your keys...

after all, you can't assault what you can't see. you can make the dark your ally.

get a copy of "Safe not Sorry" by Tanya Metaksa - buy it or borrow from the library. i bought my wife a copy along with a G26 and an SP101 for mother's day two years back. she's got her carry permit now, too.

keep safe. God bless, and Happy New Year!

glock rocks (but i carry a SIG, go figure.)

...after all, you can't assault what you can't see. you can make the dark your ally.

This statement by you, glock rocks, and the picture posted by Squantos caused me to do a little research. They aren't cheap! I like the whole idea of the TID's and see the wisdom of carrying a high-lumen Surefire flashlight in my weak hand (which, praise the Lord, is actually my left and stronger hand. My right eye is dominant and so I shoot more accurately with my R hand).

Your comment about making the dark my ally brought to mind a recently read verse in the Greek (Septuagint) Book of Wisdom, and it applies very well to all the info we have shared here:

"Compared with light, she [Wisdom] takes first place,
for light must yeild to night,
but against Wisdom evil cannot prevail."
Wisdom 7:29-30

Surely it is great wisdom to be armed and trained, to use light as a means of defense, and to be prepared to use tactical impact rather than deadly force when possible and necessary. I thank you both for your contributions to my acquisition of wisdom and wish you all a happy and safe new year. It is good to be reminded that "against Wisdom evil cannot prevail," and I think this will be my watchword for 2003.
