There are two aspects to Hillarys book deal that need examination.
The obvious one is the clear conflict of interest that the deal involves, not that such niceties ever cut any ice with the Clintons and their rabid supporters, particularly in the media.
The second one is a historical perspective that exposes not merely the Democratic Partys double standards but its inherent viciousness, a fact the recent election vividly illustrated.
But first, Hillarys remarkable windfall.
To recover its $8 million dollar investment in Hillary publisher Simon & Schuster would have to sell more than 3 million hardback copies. That would literally make publishing history, at least in America.
Does anyone think for a moment that this is possible, least of all her prospective publisher?
Yes, if she told the truth about the rape of Broaddrick, the rake offs, the selling of state secrets, the Foster suicide, the White Water scandal, and various other frauds and criminal activities. But of course, Hillary is as big a liar as Bill and just as good.
So what gives? Clintons devious behaviour certainly suggests the worst of motives. There is a Senate cap of $21,195 on external income. To evade this rule the Hillary cunningly made the deal before taking her oath of office. However, this does not eliminate the conflict of interest that clearly exists.
I think there are only two distinct possibilities that emerge. The first one is bribery. Viacom Inc. is Simon & Schusters parent company. But it also has numerous media interests, including ownership of CBS. It follows that as a Senator Hillary might be to influence legislation in a way that would financially benefit Viacom. But this is so obvious that not even the brazen Hillary could get away with it.
Eliminating bribery leaves only political support as an explanation. Its no secret that those who run Viacom are close to the Clintons. Now $8 million dollars is big bucks in any language and no matter how supportive Party donors have been they are not that generous. In any case, a personal donation of that size is bound to raise far too many eyebrows. So why not contrive an $8 million book deal? The great advantage for this from Hillarys corporate supporters is that Viacoms shareholders will be paying for it. She gets $8 million and they get taken to the cleaners. A perfect Clinton scam.
Now we all know of the appalling treatment the Democrats heaped on Gingrichs innocent book deal with Harper Collins, with the race-baiting Bonior leading the lynch mob. (Bonior, incidentally, is tied in with the pro-Castro anti-American Institute for Policy Studies). Old Newt was maligned, slandered and then found innocent of any wrongdoing. But its not Gingrich experience I want to use as an illustration of Democratic hypocrisy but good ol Dick Gephardt, the man who has so far refused to concede (I now love that word) the fact that Bush is a legitimate president, not some usurper.
Recall when Gephardt was accused of tax fraud, bank fraud and filing false House financial statements? One example of his tax evasion shenanigans was an attempt to evade taxes on a $79,500 capital gain he made on a property deal. Then there was the little matter of $90,000 that was paid in campaign funds to a catering company owned by a developer who had also lent Mr. Gephardt $304,205 to buy property.
Gephardt was clearly guilty of serious misconduct of a criminal nature. Yet the ethics committee satisfied itself with giving him a very mild reprimand and then gave Gingrich a tongue lashing. Like Bonior and Hillary Clinton, Gephardt is not morally fit to judge anyone, especially George W. Bush.
The TNA reports, "To recover its $8 million dollar investment in Hillary, her publisher, Simon & Schuster, would have to sell more than 3 million hardback copies."
That's a lotta books. Besides the fact that Hitlery intended to use the book to finesse her entry into presidential politics.
Could it be that's why it's taking so long to get the $8M thing into print? Hillary's chances were so much better right after she exited the co-presidency when nobody knew the Clintons had looted the White House, were building a penthouse in the Clinton lie-brary and Algore still looked like a winner, Florida notwithstanding.
Then 9/11 happened, and 2002 ensued, which catapaulted GWB into the political stratosphere.
Now the Clintons are having problems raising money for the lie-brary, their recent forays into campaigning echoed with a resounding thud, and algore is out of the running.
Some things do change.
You're kidding, right? Bwahahaha!
Viacom's web site.
With a complicit, Clinton-suck-up press on her side? Bet she could -- and would.
Three guesses, the first two don't count.
She detests scribes with a passion. Besides, she has the money... HA!
No, the beast will position herself for a spot in 2004. VP is her best shot.
I posted this in August 2001.
A talk radio host asserted that William Jefferson Clintons proposed book would easily sell. I agreed. However, he did not agree with my assessment of why they will sell.
The reason a book authored by William Jefferson Clinton will sell is because in order to write his book he must collaborate with Mrs. Clinton, and she with him. I predict brisk sales.
Who is the reader who would seek one book and not the other? I predict brisk sales for both authors.
The two stories must jive. The content of either book must support the validity of the other book. How much is revealed depends on how gutsy the author. The writers are facing vast potential for error.
I assert the writers will not be allowed to reveal in one book that which cannot be collaborated in the other book. Since neither book is written they must collaborate in order to know how to begin.
We shall see.
Do you think the Clinton's books will be widely owned and read?
Earlier we found out that the clinton admin had declined the arrest of Osama bin Laden, bombed an aspirin factory and the desert, and many other intl failings.
All released and made "old news" one drop at a time.
However, their books are being timed to the market so as to maximize sales. But things are not working as planned. Publishers are getting antsy. They got big bucks tied up and the further from their presidency the harder the sell.
Bill just announced the other day he'd have his outline by next August. Hah. That's as big a fiction as the books will be.
When they signed the deals, 9/11 hadn't happened and neither had 2002. Not to mention the dirt that keeps coming out about these two charlatans. All of which decreases their saleability in the marketplace.
Who knows the financial status of the publishers as well? Would be schadenfreude if the publishers went belly-up before publication.
She got the money and probably hasn't written a single word yet.
You mean ghostwriter's block, don't you? She won't actually write a word of this opus.
Something that never would have happened under the Clinton regime.
What are ghost writers for?
