US denies snubbing Prince

Reports that the Prince of Wales has abandoned an official visit to the United States because the White House fears he is privately against war with Iraq were denied by his office yesterday.

Senior aides at St James's Palace dismissed the claims, saying there were "no firm plans for the Prince to go to the US".

A Sunday newspaper reported that aides to President George W Bush had indicated that any visit by the Prince would be deemed "very unhelpful".

The Prince's outspoken support of Islam was cited as one reason, according to the Mail on Sunday, which quoted an anonymous "Whitehall source" as saying: "A week-long tour was in the diary for February or March 2003. But the Prince has been politely informed his views on the current crisis might not go down well."

An unnamed "royal aide" was also quoted as saying: "The fact is that British public opinion is divided on this issue. Neither Washington nor Downing Street wants the Prince to reflect that."

The Prince, who has not visited America for six years, was due to pay an official visit two years ago, but this was postponed after it was found impossible to pencil in a date convenient to the White House and him.

Since then a visit has been "on the back burner". But, said a senior Palace source, no formal proposal had been made for the Prince to visit this year. "It's a lot of nonsense," said the source.

"The Foreign Office is always looking at different options for tours. I dare say America has come up for discussion at some time. He was due to go some time ago, so it has always been there on the back burner."

Sources in Washington described as ridiculous the notion that Mr Bush would have snubbed the Prince over his views on Iraq because no one in the White House would have the slightest idea what these were.

Damn I like that hat!

I'd wear that in public.

I don't think my wife would care to be seen with me while I did so... But that's her loss.

LOL!

Truly, I think the klinton's comments about US responsibility for the 9/11 attacks (notably billy's comments at Georgetown Univ right after the attack), other highly visible democrats, hollywood nutcases (ya know the ones-the ones that think they are so deep and sensitive (lol) and continually need to prove this, hehe, ol feather headed Charles, etc....only spout off like they do because they don't want to be targets should anything, perhaps, come close. They are cowards. Big time.

The Prince's outspoken support of Islam was cited as one reason....

And just how outspoken is that support?

HRH Prince Charles was photographed some time ago at the Grand Opening of a new Ahl as-Sunna masjid in London. Here accompanied by two shaikhs wearing traditional Sunni turbans he waters a newly planted-tree symbolizing the spread of Islam in England.

Oops.

Charlie had better be careful what he wishes for. He may live to regret getting his wish. Instead of celebrating the spread of Islam, he (and we) should be working overtime to stiffle it. That "religion of peace" is more like a plague.
