CA: Research indicates gap between voters, non-voters will persist

One of California's many political peculiarities is the persistent -- even widening -- cultural gap between the state's residents and its voters.

Although California's non-Latino white population has been declining steadily in relative terms and now is well below 50 percent, the state's electorate remains overwhelmingly white. In fact, after years of slow decline, the white vote jumped in last month's election, from 70 percent of the total in 2000 to 76 percent in 2002.

Not only will political candidates -- regardless of their own ethnicity -- still have to tailor their campaign messages to the white population's priorities, prejudices and values . . .

In Kalifornia, the "priorities, prejudices and values" of an affluent, aging white population make the political views of almost every other group of Americans seem reactionary. Hopefully, when these people die out, some semblance of sanity will return to the Left Coast.

From the article: "Exceptionally low political participation rates among other racial and ethnic groups -- driven by a host of factors from income and education to citizenship rates ..."

They don't come out and say that illegal immigration has created a "disenfranchised" majority in Kalifornia, do they? Perhaps they are embarassed by the unAmerican-ness of their actions in encouraging this?

Nah...

Whites may make up less than 50 percent of California's population (slightly more than 50 percent of adults), but they will be politically dominant for many years.

Not to worry. What the Latinos lack in voting power is made up for by the "loud-mouth factor" of MALDEF, Mecha, President Fox, etc.

They must tailor their campaigns to the prejudices, fears and values of a relatively white, affluent and aged electorate

This explains why California has become America's deepest pit of socialist hell then( sarcasm).

California's white population itself is undergoing a fundamental demographic change. It's aging rapidly as the baby boom generation grows older; it's relatively affluent; and it has very, very few children remaining at home.

This calls for a major scientific inquiry. There are fascinating things going on here. First of all, the white population is aging rapidly. Why? Why would they be aging any faster than other people?

Second, something odd has happened to the white children of the boomer generation. Either they aren't white anymore, or they all left the state -- which actually wouldn't be a dumb idea -- or they themselves have had no children, suggesting perhaps some sort of environmental disaster affecting fertility.

This sentence betrayed the prejudices of the author and that was the end of the article for me. Nothing that follows can possibly have any credibility after such a snotty judgement of white people is offered. Filthy liberal puke.

Good catch. What's ever more wierd is that those who vote in California don't reside there, according to the first paragraph. It's as we suspected all along...aliens have taken control of the state.
