So true, Miss Marple! I had a hard time putting down Fighting Back. Sammons' writing style is smoother and warmer than Woodward's, and very engaging.
At the beginning of Bush at War, I found it interesting and positive. As I worked my way through it, however, it got tedious and I found myself getting bogged down with both the detail, and the erratic jumping from meeting to meeting.
I still think that the average American reading it will have a very positive impression of the strength and character of our President, though, and that's a good thing.
