He breaks his own veto streak. A court may send another murderer home.

Gov. Gray Davis has used his broad new power over parole in murder cases to sign off on the release of an immigrant who killed a vandal in frustration over a yearlong wave of hate crimes in Stockton's Laotian community.

Davis relents, OKs parole of killer

Heck, this is probably just part of the suggested plan to do early-release for some
California inmates...so as to ease that hughmongous state budget deficit.

Going home? And just where would "home" be? Didn't the post say he was an "immigrant?'' And will the INS be there to deport this guy?

My bet is he will be turned loose into our society.

Yup. I mean I'd slam Davis for this but that's tough to do when law enforcement and the D.A backs it. Still it offends my sense of justice and I don't like it one bit even though I can't really stop it from happening.

Merry Christmas from Grey Davis. Not only is the state of CA $35,000,000,000 in the hole, but now the crime rate is going to skyrocket too.

Hey, I think it is great the guy is going home. But don't think for a second that if the races were reversed that this would be happening.

A Monterey County judge (Robert F. Moody) ruled that Davis had exceeded even his virtually unlimited new power in keeping Isidro Sanchez behind bars.

Now there is a real scum-bag of a judge. The judiciary in this county is a bunch of corrupt good ole boy leftist creeps who should be impeached and disbarred. The kangaroo courts here in Monterey are rife with nepotism. The entire political structure is also.

Pay-offs to county and municipal employees for business contracts and employment with public agencies are the norm. If you think some areas of California are bastions of Leftist corruption, look at Monterey County. It is by far the worst. Enough to make Willie Brown blush.

Likewise, the local legal community are mostly a bunch of attorneys who go along to get along, rip off clients and throw cases to gain favor with the good ole boys club or be blacklisted.

There are actually well guarded blacklists for employment, business contracts, legal decisions (including immunities against crimminal prosecutions), grants and loans. If there ever was enough evidence to initiate a U.S. Dept. of Justice investigation, most of the public payroll around here would go to prison.

Excluding all the local municipalities and special districts, the county itself is the largest employer.
