CAMBRIDGE - The national movement to pressure universities to pull their investments from Israel has been battered this year by critics who call it divisive and anti-Semitic.

But it has shown remarkable staying power in large part because of an unusual group of supporters: Jewish professors.

This really isn’t all that surprising. Self loathing is one of the foremost traits of the liberal “mind”.

Can someone please confirm if Sylvain Bromberger is in the same department of Philosophy and Linguistics as Noam Chomsky? And aren't they good friends?

Yes, both are in the Philosophy and Linguistics Dept. at MIT (I think I'm going to have to sterilize my keyboard now).  And judging by the dust cover reviews they've written for one another's books I'd say their adoration for eachother is exceeded only by their hatred for the United States.

In not one reference to South African divestment have I seen one syllable of analysis on the results of that action. I have confronted one former South African anti-apartheid activist (who's husband is Jewish by birth) w/that and of course, she answered:"We're not Jewish". However, the family trust is called "The Jewish Foundation of Greater (mid-sized American city).

I suppose these folks all think they will be celebrated capos under a Leftist/Islamist regime.

Where's the barf alert? The Islamos and commies just love to parade around atheist Jews who would like to see the Jewish nation disappear.

''I simply couldn't afford to sit back any longer,'' said Harvard psychology professor Elizabeth Spelke,

Sure, I understand. The question I have is why this esteemed professor can continue to "sit back" with regard to all the atrocities that happen in the rest of the world today? What is it that places Israel at the bottom of the heap?

Acceptance. Some will sell their souls for it. Some will sell their own heritage. Some will do both.

Sara Roy, a child of Holocaust survivors and a Middle East researcher at Harvard, has not signed the divestment petition but is seen as an ally in the movement because of a Holocaust Remembrance Lecture she gave this year and published last month. In the speech, she said: ''For my mother and father, Judaism meant bearing witness, railing against injustice, and forgoing silence. ... What sort of meaning do we as Jews derive from the debasement and humiliation of Palestinians?''

I like the one above. No room for G_d it seems in her and her folk's version of Judaism. But plenty of room to use weary clichés such as humiliation of Palestinians. I may not be Harvard material but I know enough to avoid clichés.

Yeh, I noted that too. As much as my heart aches for every Holocaust victim, I have to remember that many of them were fairly G-dless even before the war. Enlightenment meant acceptance, which in turn meant mimicking the Christian world of Germany. No surprise that her folks sound like a product of the modern Reform temple.

I noticed also how shallow her thought process was. Rather disappointing for an Ivy League school, isn't it? I know, I am repeating what you said so much better than I did.

I find it more than slightly ironic that while many of the biggest detractors of Israel are leftist Jews, many of the biggest supporters of Israel are right-wing Christians. I think many leftist Jews have painted themselves into a corner with their politics. Since hating capitalism and the U.S. became cause number one for them, by extension they have forced themselves into hating America's closest allies. Israel is of course one of our main friends.

Oh, the injustice. Look what ruin academia has helped inflict on South Africa and Rhodesia due to their misguided Marxism. And does anyone hold them accountable in the least? I don't think so. The people of Africa will suffer for decades due to their support for the collapse of these governments.

Man, to liberal fools, Israel must be trashed just like when the Jews were forbiden from selling books and going in faculties in Nazi Germany. Shame shame shame.

Antisemitism is rooted in nonthink and banning of intellectual works and discussions. Every time the Jews have been discriminated in societies, societies have dug themselves a grave of intellectual moronisation and cultural decay. Jewish nationalism is rooted in thinking and cultural development, always looking for the antithesis of the thesis and antithesis. The minute they divest discussions and not merely Jewish business but intellectual University work, is the minute a University cannot be called a university, but a war zone of dictatorial indoctrination, raising youth Nazi troops seeking the overthrow of a once good nation.

There will always be Jews, others too, who are so stupid they will sup with the devil. Try to make "deals" with the devil. M'thinks these "Jewish" slackademics are a little too full of themselves.

It must be tuff to be a Jewish prof and feel so much for those poor, noble, misunderstood, psycho-killers over in PallieLand.
