You were a kid. A .308 doesn't kick that bad.

In firing thousands of rounds through an M! Garand in the Army, after the second day I never heard the weapon go off and never felt any recoil. All I heard was the bolt clack afterward.

I love my Garands. The only thing is that .30-06 surplus is drying up and I like to shoot. I have been thinking of rebarreling one in 7.62 X 51 Nato. You are aware that with your veteran status that you can buy up to 5 Garands a year from the Civilian Marksmanship Program simply by joining a CMP affiliated club (also listed on the site), aren't you?

Ya'll have had better luck with M1 Garands than I have. I never care to shoot one ever again.
