This is sad news. I only lurked over there, but learned a great deal about firearms and the fight for the right of individuals to maintain ownership of them. I pray he has a change of heart and keeps the board open, or hands over administration to someone else.

It is indeed a sad day...

Bummer
I originally found FR though TFL.
In 3 years of membership I posted under 150 items over there, but I still enjoyed reading and learning over at TFL.

Is there any possibility of a "Firing Line" forum being added to FR?

Oh, no, that's too bad! It was usually one of the first places I'd go whenever I had a question about guns. Never had to post either; I could almost always find what I was looking for by searching the archives (plus I liked to read McMillan's posts!). :-(

I originally found FR though TFL. Same here. Sad to see it go.

Great idea. I'm pinging John Robinson, too, since he'd have to deal with the technical aspects of such a move, if it's feasible in the first place.

Thanks. I did a search, but didn't find anything. Sorry for the duplicate post.

Check the bang list. It's devoted to the Second Amendment cause.

That's fine, but I was thinking of a forum that could serve as a gathering place for Firing Line refugees.

The board hasn't gone down yet. Keep checking over there, because we are trying to find an alternate solution. Oleg Volk is hard at work arranging something, but it is still in the infancy stages, so I don't know all the details.....

Oh, I'm not saying they don't have alternatives. It's just that FR might be a better alternative (due to its proven large capacity and excellent support), and at the same time, I think that the patrons of TFL would be a credit to FR.

It's looking more & more like Oleg Volk will have a new site up and running by Christmas, which will be "TFL-like."
I've already emailed him to advise when it's ready to accept new or migrated members.
So far about 10,000 of the members there seem to have checked in to read about TFL's inactivation, so it will be interesting to see just how many will migrate.

Bad news.
You introduced me to this site about 2 years ago. Hate to see it go.

Interesting. I found TFL through FreeRepublic.
Great site, wonderful and sagacious moderator/staffers, nicely run.
BUT--not the interactivity of the FR software, which was the price you pay for buying off-the-shelf software.
Good night, sweet Prince.

That is sad news. I didn't post there that often, but I did often lurk there. Good site.
