'We have got well over 20 and are approaching 26,' says one Lott supporter.

Twenty Six votes ( out of 51 total GOP members) are required for Lott to keep his job.

Spectre supports him with lame "he could be a born-again civil rightist"

Would that be Arlen "Scottish Law" Spectre?

To borrow a phrase, Trent Lott has now become the proverbial angry monkey with a blowtorch, in a roomful of dynamite.

I didn't see it! I'm sure that will come back to haunt me! And I'll surely deserve it. Heck, there will probably be a graphic about it!

"The Dems are going to play the race card BIG TIME in 2004 with Lott as their ACE!!!"

The ace of spades, no doubt!

Nope. I said the Dems are playing politics. I've never been convinced that they as a whole really give a rat's ass about race.

Fine. And I've said that I was offended--as a conservative, a Republican, and an American--by Lott's remarks. If your point is that the Dems have nothing to say on this matter, either because of their own hypocrisy, their own history, or their own political intentions, very well. But this is a debate for Republicans to have with one another, and the fact that the Dems may delight in seeing Lott step down as ML (a dubious assumption) matters not to me.

Is Lott planning on jumping BACK to the Democrats? I didn't think we had a position like that in OUR party.

I deny it. I repudiate it. I bet your understanding and tolerance.

I am going on BET tonight to explain that post!

I have NEVER given a dime to ANY Democrat, the DNC, or liberal. Ever.

I am from Joisey, but have supported Lott from Day 1. I don't approve of lynching, plain and simple, mob rule, or media feeding frenzies either.

You guys keep hoping that Lott will be voted out as Majority Leader. If he is voted out, what happens if he gets mad and
resigned. That means that the Democrat Governor gets to pick
a democrat, that makes the senate 50-50 again. ONe of those
RINO would break, and become independent, giving the Democrats majority, and we have Tiny Tom again. I say that I rather take my chances in 2004, after the Republicans have set the priorities that will help the American people.

They've tried to destroy him and seems like Lott's support is only growing

Are you kidding ? 60% of republicans in the senate either won't take his call or give him a straight answer and the other 40% who told him they support him could be lying. The man is toast.
