"Wish I could sleep through the Dumbya years, though. As a capitalist, my bottom line's been suffering as a result of Dumbya's policy of paying off big campaign contributors with pork barrel projects and special interest tax breaks."
Maybe you did not sleep though Clintons entire term (Are we talking Dog years?) Apparently you slept through the last eight years of Clintons moral debachary.

Great post!
Just out of curiousity ....
Before this dispicable deed of Lott's was shoved down our throats 24/7 for the past two weeks, I wonder what percentage of the black population even knew who Strom Thurmond is, much less that he ever ran for President, much less that he ran as a Dixiecrat, or much less that the Dixiecrat platform called for segregation.
I suspect that damn few would have been offended by Lott's remarks had they not been told to be offended.

Is it getting lonely being a democrat? I heard their booking a local Chuckee Cheeze for their next convention.
It won't matter if your nominee gets lost in the balls. The painful truth for you guys is Bush until 2008

Neoconservatives may have left the RAT Party, but in many ways they remain the leftists they always were. That includes having their own version of PC.

I would rather die than dance to the tune of Sydney Blumenthal....he has caused this mess and I cannot believe how many so called Republicans fell for it hook, line and sinker. I am not a Lott fan but this is a witch hunt and this is wrong....he was voted in as Majority Leader after the elections by his peers. It is not his fault that people took what he said in the wrong way...he has explained himself and apologized over and over but it seems that certain people find it convenient not to believe him.

Oh, now it's Sidney Blumenthal? Interesting angle.
That Blumenthal is quite a ventriloquist. I didn't even see his lips move as Lott was talking. That was quite creative of Blumenthal to make Lott say he liked affirmative action, that white people didn't really know much about Martin Luther King, etc. etc.
The "vast conspiracy" crap didn't work when Hillary spouted it. It won't work here, either.

If you cant stand the heat, get out of the kitchen.
Must be a bit warm for Murry Mom.
But then, we have debated several times, this seems to be her MO.

I just saw Lott on the PBS Newshour promising everything, including the kitchen sink, to anybody he may have "offended" by his remarks, proving that his solution to the problems brought on by
his own personal gaffe is to grow gov't bigger in direct contravention of the Republican philosophy of governance. Nothing matters to Lott except saving his own skin.
This guy has got to go.

It looks to me that you are having a tough time dealing with facts.
If the facts are incorrect, it would be nice to read them, with proof sources of course.

I would rather die than dance to the tune of Sydney Blumenthal..Horsepucky. Do you believe everything Mickey Kaus tells you? Blumenthal did not generate interest in the story all by himself. Even before Kaus (one of Blumenthal's email recipients) got his message from Blumenthal, several bloggers were already writing about it.
Kaus is stirring the pot, that's all. The story had legs from the beginning, emanating from several sources, because it satisfies the various agendas of Lott's numerous detractors.
No matter what the motivation for the story, Lott's handling of it has only made things worse, to the point today where today he promised to grow gov't bigger just to save his own worthless skin.
Lott has got to go.

For a long time now, the "Republican South" has been changing its face and its nature. It is still south, and it is still Republican, but these words now mean different things. This new South is high-tech, sub- and ex-urban, and very much more like the rest of the country. Southern states that moved into the Republican column in 1964 over civil rights legislation are Republican now because of defense, social issues, and taxes, driven there as the Democrats tended to migrate further to the left. "Republicans are long past the day when they need to manipulate white racial resentments . . . to win in the South," writes Ronald Brownstein in Los Angeles Times. "The ties that bind Republicans to the region are conservative views on taxes, national defense, and social issues such as guns and abortion, no nostalgia for Jim Crow."Excellent point. One that places the lie to Bill Clinton's accusation today the southern Republicans go around pining for Strom Thurman's Presidency in secret.
This Lott thing provides conservatives with an unparalleled opportunity to project its long-held views of equal, color-blind opportunity, and how the social policies of liberals for the last 50+ years have actually hurt blacks by limiting their opportunities to break out of their socio-economic plantation the Dem's policies have constructed.

the years when the DJIA was skyrocketing, unemployment fell from 7.3% to 4.2%You're referring, of course, to the continued Reagan economic revival. Quick, tell us one Clinton economic policy that actually promoted economic growth and lower unemployment?

Yes, it was posted as a link in another Lott thread.... I think and I followed the link to a article...it was either in the Washington Times or the Washington Post...it said that old Syd mass emailed people and the media after he heard the comment while watching the birthday party... I can try to find it back if you want.
