Most Americans say Bush has failed to justify Iraqi war

LOS ANGELES (AP) - More than two-thirds of Americans believe the Bush administration has failed to make its case that a war against Iraq is justified, according to a poll by the Los Angeles Times published Tuesday.

Ninety percent of respondents said they don't doubt Iraq is developing weapons of mass destruction. But without new evidence from U.N. inspectors, 72 percent of respondents, including 60 percent of Republicans, said the president has not provided enough evidence to justify starting a war.

The Times poll, which interviewed 1,305 adults nationwide, was conducted from Thursday to Sunday, in the week after Iraq handed over its massive report on its arsenal to the United Nations. The margin of error was plus or minus 3 percentage points.

Yea, I'm going to be real impressed by any poll conducted out of the left-(need to push'em all to Canada) coast. Especially anything done by the LA Times. Everybody knows how objective they are.

Where did they get the respondents phone numbers from? Bab's fan club. These numbers can't be taken seriously

Can someone re-post the original poll questions/results from the LA Times? I'm on a work computer and don't want to register with the LA Times. I'm also in a discussion of push polls with a liberal friend and was wondering if some of the questions asked by the LA Times would make good examples.

This is when I'm glad we have LEADER instead of poll watcher. There are times when a true leader will have to make the tough call to do something that may seem unpopular but stil may be the right thing to do. GO W.

Especially since the Administration has not yet presented its case. Dumb poll.

So far, the credible threat of war has restored the inspections in Iraq, has caused Saddam to apologize to Kuwait, has shown us which allies can be counted on, has totally confused the Democrats....it's been a good (non)war, so far.

I think that the USA failed to wipe out Saddam Hussein the first time. This is where we went wrong.

It's not time to heat up the kettle of American public opinion. That will be the easiest and the final thing that Bush has to do. It will take months to build a NATO/EU consensus. That's happening now. When we have them as ready to believe as John Q. Public, then Bush will drop the hammer, either some clear evidence linking Iraq to 9/11, and/or the Oklahoma City bombing, and/or weaponized Anthrax that was sent to us in the mails. Only 3 countries have weaponized Anthrax: the US, Russia, and Iraq.

Bush can't start talking about that now or else public opinion will force him to hit Iraq within a week. Let's just watch and wait. He knows exactly what he's doing.

Especially since the Administration has not yet presented its case.

When should we expect it?

Shortly. My guess is they only wanted to let the Iraqis hang themselves with their own paper. When you have Colin Powell agreeing that the Iraqi report is full of it, I would say the next event will be our disclosure to show where they are lying (at the same time the first strike hits).
