I think the Dims just realized they overplayed this thing, and are afraid of getting a ML with some spine.

That is why we have to have a man of principle in this position. With the packs of Rat and media wolves ready to pounce on any mistake or sign of weakness by a Republican leader, our leadership must be forceful in explaining and articulating our beliefs, views and agenda. Especially so in the area of race, where views and proposed programs contrary to the NAACP or CBC position are automatically labeled "racist" even though such programs could and likely would lift African-Americans out of their economic and social bondage. The irony is that today's economic Black bondage is not due to the White man's or the Republican's latent racism, but to Democratic ideas and policies that, by emphasizing Blacks as helpless victims, have not worked for the past 40 years and will not work in the future.

I logged in to the New York Times. What I really liked was, in the right hand corner, it said, "Welcome, Hildebeast".

If Lott is ousted because he's not "a man of principle" on the issue of race relations (whatever that means)..then we as a party have set a line in the sand for ourselves.
An AP wire story is already comparing Nickles' voting record with Lott's. And, on the all-important issues of race, Lott --(who is now the poster child for the bad, racist Republican)-- and Nickles' records are a match.
To be true to our newly articulated principles, do we now have to oust Nickles, too...or at least condemn his as damaged goods and prevent him from ever moving into the leadership position?
If not, why not?

Just wait until they and their allies, the lamestream media, start cranking out the articles about Mitch McConnel's ties to
BIG TOBACCO as well as his similarity to Lott's & Nickols' voting records.
Someone above said it best: Appeasement begets appeasement.
They will continue to play this race game as long as the spineless, stupid Republicans allow them to!
All it would take is for someone to say...
We refuse to play this game any longer. The guy has apologized many times and if you can not accept his apology graciously, that is your problem.

Just as I suspected, now that the Rats are thinking that Lott may step down as ML, they are now beginning to reconsider their rhetoric, in order that he stays on. All the more reason why Lott must go.

It's not about voting records! It's about being able to articulate your position based on priniciple and merit. Should a person have an advantage in education or employment simply based on the color of his skin or ethnic background? No. Discrimination was wrong in the past and it's wrong now whether it's based on White or Black or Asian discrimination. Should ML King have a holiday named after him based on his accomplishments? Yes. Should American taxpayers pay for it through a loss of millions of dollars in productivity? That is debatable. (BTW, in November NM voters [who are majority Hispanic and Native-American] declined by a margin of about 80% to institute a paid Caesar Chavez holiday). The point is that you can argue these points from a non-racist point of view if you don't come from a segrationist background. Lott can no longer do that (if he ever could). Regarding Nickles, I don't know enough of his background to determine if he has the type of record that would prevent him from articulating these view.

Lott may have pulled the trigger on himself last night, coming out for affirmative action.

Rep. John Lewis, Democratic congressman from south Fulton, regularly uses demagogic labeling to paint conservatives as nothing short of Nazi war criminals. "They're coming for your children, they're coming for the old people, they're coming for the poor!" Lewis rants, and he gets good press coverage.

Thanks I remember that comment from that loathesome slug. Dems have no credibility as moralists. They are the party of stinking hypocrites and race-baiters. Morons like Lewis have no clue that their brain-dead policies actually hold back the people they think they're helping.

I remember that quote, Rush plays it all the time.
