December 16, 2002 -- It was close but no cigar for Monica Lewinsky, who was hired to appear on Italian TV - then booted for having too scandalous a past.
The ex-White House intern was to have been the star guest yesterday on the popular "Domenica In" show in Rome.

Didn't our intellectual elite try to convince us that the (Triple)X-42's indiscretions were nothing without the moral outrage of the Religious Right, and that the Europeans were laughing at our prudishness? Hmmm... ?
