About 2 weeks now....and the issue hasn't gone away. And it won't. Lott damaged himself. First, he has been undercutting his conservative base for years; now, they are not there to defend and support him. He's floating on his own--and he won't survive this. The RC will soon (days or hours) make the decision to replace Lott, because the RC sees the need to move on before much more political damage is done.

Trent Lott should be ashamed of himself. No one is asking him to give up his senate seat, just gracefully give up leadership, and do it for the good of the party and the country.

Trent Lott was a failure as minority and majority leader...easily made the fool by Tom Daschle...and now that Lott has inflicted mortal wounds on himself, he simply isn't qualified to lead senate republicans.

I don't think Trent Lott is a racist, but I do think he's a silly, arrogant fool.

Metaphorically speaking..."Off with his head!"

2 weeks? Wow. Well, I am joining the call to resign then or face new elections. I always had supported new elections, but never him resigning (I thought that would implicity be an admission the entire GOP is racist). But, he is permanently damaged with this going on for two weeks and I would like to see him gone any way possible under the Senate rules.
