McCain won't leave the party as long as the Rep have control... He won't put in jeopardy his chairmanship of the Commerce Committee...
To: Howlin
No problem.

I just cannot relate to your unbending support for Senator LottLottbots
To: Howlin
Out of the blue during one of his apologies, Lott said Jeffords was his friend. I didn't know that Jeffords had any GOP friends.

I don't it matters what Republican Black office holders are saying anyway... In 2000 we got 9 percent of the black vote... does anyone think that by forcing Lott out it will get us anymore than that anyway? I guess we have to respectfully disagree.
I feel that Lott's remarks have done us great harm and fly in the face of the tone being set by the President on this issue.
To: Torie
So Sen. Bayh's party labels Lott as a racist but he's not a racist but he should step down because all of their rantings will make him LOOK like a racist?

The fact that Lott STILL thinks of Jeffords as a friend, after what Jumpin' Jim did to him, is proof he is a weak man.
To: Republic of Texas
He wouldn't be the first leader to say one thing and do another
how true

I've had people close to the Oklahoma Republican Party tell me that Nickles is more interested in being Chairman of the budget committee than in being Majority leader.

"Me, too. This is the first time I find myself questioning whether or not he's speaking from his heart or Rove's script."IMO, he's speaking from his heart. Lott got himself into this jam, and the president is going to allow him to dig himself out of it...if he can. If the public percieves that Lott is somehow being propped up by the president, President Bush will be (again) accused of using his overwhelming popularity for the purely political gain of his fellow partiests. And the public would be right.
President Bush is not responsible for Lott. Lott is responsible for Lott. He isn't going anywhere, unless he screws up even more badle than he has. It's in the president's interest to keep him where he is, whether he likes it or not, because Lott was already making noises like he was gonna cave to senate Democrats over Homeland Security when the senate comes back into session. The president does NOT want Lott to cave in to Democrats.
Have a good afternoon all. I'm gonna go off and find a legal beverage and a football game.

We can only imagine what he'll say tomorrow night. "Some of my best friends are black" comes to mind. *Shiver*

Why fight the entire Muslim world, when you can pick them off one at a time? They will, in time, give him many opportunities to change his opinion (publicly).
To: Torie
That's a clever approach by Bayh. He's learning so well from Joe Lieberman, and of course, he has the interests of the GOP and Bush at heart when he says that. He's a mensch!

Smart, Dog! Or is it Smart Dog? LOL

President Bush has brilliantly sold himself to America's Christian and conservative population as their hero and standard-bearer. Unfortunately, his walk does not match his talk. It pains me to point out the following realities:
