I'm Catholic. The Church teaches that God forgives all sins, but that all sins come with temporal punishments, even if they are forgiven.
Lott is going to pay for being a fool. I just hope he doesn't drag the other Republicans with him.

I just heard Maxine Walters say Lott was all other the place today. This, from a woman who, on MSNBC, called Strom Thurmond "Throm Sturmond."
To: sinkspur
Geez, you've never done anything like that?
Lott's behavior since this thing broke has been anything but consistent.
Hell, I'd respect a consistent "f*** off" approach more than what he's done. I'd still think it was foolish and stupid, but at least I'd respect him for not suffering from multiple sneator personality disorder...

I just saw Al Sharpton on Hannity & Colmes say he forgives Lott, but Lott's gotta pay..That's what this has been all about, from the beginning.
That's why Lott cannot be pushed aside by these race pimps.
All they ever say is "Pay, Pay, Pay." Apologize, but keep your hand on your wallet.
To: hinckley buzzard
" Lott was not, when they voted, anywhere near the corpse that he is today."
Would it be rude to suggest that a buzzard would be more likely to recognize a corpse than most of us? #;^)
To: sinkspur
you think Lott's remarks were racist, and I don't think they were anything of the kindSorry; as many conservatives (NOT "race pimps") have noted, there simply isn't an alternative explanation.
And in today's press conference Lott evidenced an even more disgusting, patronizing kind of racism: the random listing of political "accomplishments" in which the sole connective thread was that they somehow, someway, in his mind, related to black people: "I voted for a Martin Luther King bust"..."I voted for Juneteenth"
What utter racist spew.

Geez, you've never done anything like that? I've always pronounced Strom Thurmond's name correctly.
But, I have to say that I can't cook fried chicken worth a damn.

All they ever say is "Pay, Pay, Pay." Apologize, but keep your hand on your wallet. As long as Lott holds the keys to the Senate, the Senate will be at the mercy of the race pimps. Trent has made himself, and by extension the entire GOP, hostage to these despicable people.
Demote Lott, and tell Sharpton to go scr*w himself.
To: M. Thatcher
Trent Lott has been in Congress for thirty years. He has a record. Instead of offering your opinion on whether or not he is a racist, why don't you examine his record and convince us that his deeds have been racist.
I'd be willing to read or listen to anything you find.
To: sinkspur
sinkspur, I actually said "Lent Trott" when talking about the Majority Leader once.

>Looking forward to Trent Lott's appearance on BET next week<
I remenber when John Ashcroft appeared on BET after his confirmation hearing and it was a hatchet job. The Stalinist interviewer was not fair, big surprise. Lott will get the same treatment. I don't know what's in the man's heart or brain but pandering to these Leftist has been a big mistake. If he's going start buying the Black Caucus off ( A segragationist caucus if there ever was one ) he should just resign as Leader of the Senate.

Lott went a long way toward fulfilling his penance today. He stood there like a man and took the beating. Today, he exhibited balls.
What tomorrow brings, who knows.

Lott went a long way toward fulfilling his penance today. He stood there like a man and took the beating. Today, he exhibited balls. If he'd done that the FIRST time around, this would be over already. But ol' Trent had to make sure the Dems got a week's worth of free throws from the foul line.
If Lott actually were working for the Dems, I don't think he could have made it much worse.

Thank you.

How about, instead, we look to see if Lott has provided a legacy of associations and comments which are detrimental towards the advancement of conservative positions. I think between this, and his various associations (intentional or not) with the CCC, and with his having in the past called himself one who believed once in segregation, and with him having fought to keep blacks out of his college fraternity, and with him having all of one black on his DC staff (in the mail room), and with him making comments romanticizing the Dixiecrats, it is difficult to say that he has well positioned us to make inroads to expanding our reach.
After 30 years, he has maneuvered himself to a position that is incompatible with the needs of the position of Senate Majority Leader.
To: jwalsh07
This is over. Lott said it all today when he said that he wouldn`t resign. A nickel bet, bet he breaks his butt working to pass GWB`s agenda.
To: Poohbah
Sometimes men need a push in the right direction to realize they have what it takes. It happens.
Bush pushed, Lott found some balls.
To: jwalsh07
Today, he exhibited balls. If bending down and kissing the behind of the race baiters and promising them the moon as penance for what you say is an imagined offense is 'exhibiting balls', then we have completely different definitions of what that means.
To: sinkspur
This, from a woman who, on MSNBC, called Strom Thurmond "Throm Sturmond." And Solomon Barney Frank!
To: M. Thatcher
And in today's press conference Lott evidenced an even more disgusting, patronizing kind of racism: the random listing of political "accomplishments" in which the sole connective thread was that they somehow, someway, in his mind, related to black people: "I voted for a Martin Luther King bust"..."I voted for Juneteenth" That's what this is about. Black people. We wouldn't be discussing this whole thing if black people hadn't gotten their backs up over remarks made off the cuff at a tribute to an old man!
Lott's getting skewered because he voted against MLK's birthday, because he thought there were enough federal holidays. So, when he says he voted for Juneteenth, he takes one thing away from the race pimps.
That's what race pimps are about: getting things. If Jesse Jackson finds a black jelly bean in a jar on a conference room table at Texaco, he turns it into a multi-million dollar payoff for himself and all the blacks in the company.
White people are scared to death of race pimps. It's time for that crap to STOP!
That's why Lott has to leave on his own terms. If Lott's pushed out by the racialists, nobody's safe. Nobody.
