May I be the first to say I support Trent Lott and wish him to remain Majority Leader of the Senate!

I support him, too. Whether he remains as MJL is up to him.

He should not be railroaded by race pimps and the self-righteous.

since when do the demRATS decide who works for the republican party,, and just what do those calling for his resignation ( from the republican side ) expect will happen? You think the demRATS will change,,suddenly joining the ranks of those who actually think,,? will the race baiting stop ? I think NOT ,,, tell the demRATs to shove it and move on.. when the senate decides who will lead,, those who know Trent best,, I hope his still leads the party with the class and dignity he has shown in the past,,,

Nope... but he should step down because he has continued to exercise bad judgement. Hmmm... let's see:

Exhibit A - This last faux pas (and just weeks after the big election). DUH!!!

Exhibit B - The power sharing deal. Man what a dump idea?

Exhibit C - Letting Clinton skate. He had no spine... dumb move. The dems already hate pubbies and those pubbies that are actually conservative couldn't stand Lott after that.

I guess the purists among us feel so superior. They have never put their foot in their mouth.

But then this is all about the impeachment.......and these are the same folks who are ridiculing Gore for not getting over the election he tried to steal.

This is a tough one. Lott is a spineless, self-serving wimp with no visible core values beyond his own ambition. He consistently caves in to the rats without even negotiating. Now he hands the rats free ammunition with which to blast the Pubs.

 

However... just because he is a dolt, a nincompoop and a buffoon does not translate into his being a racist. (If he were a racist, it would imply that he actually had principles-wrong principles, but principles nontheless, which he doesn't. But I digress.)

 

The rats should not be allowed to get away with mislabeling a fool as a bigot.

 

My fear, though, is that he will now attempt to prove his embracing of diversity by giving away the store to the the rats. If Bush were to try to guide the senate in a conservative direction, approve constitutionalist judges, etc., against Lotti's will, he could threaten to resign his seat, which would be filled by a rat (by a rat gov), which would leave the senate one Chaffee defection away from a rat majority.
