Muslims persecuted in East Turkistan region which is occupied by Communist China

East Turkestan is located in the Communist Chinese military controlled and occupied province of Sinkiang. Located in Central Asia, 1500 miles from Beijing, Uyghuristan or East Turkistan is bordered by Kazakhstan to the north, Mongolia to the northeast, and Kirghizstan and Tajikistan to the northwest and west. To the west and southwest lie Afghanistan and Pakistan, and to the south are Tibet and India. To the east lies China, and the borders of Communist China currently occupy the non-Chinese region of millions of people who want independence from foreign domination and foreign occupation. The potential for an independent, nationalist and Muslim based movement of non-Chinese within the borders of China is not only of eminent prospective, but currently active. The population is predominantly ethnic Turk, they speak a Turkic language and are Muslims, and have an active independence/nationalist movement against the Communist Chinese who are conducting an extermination campaign against the Turks involved and are holding large numbers of Turks in concentration camps or liquidated. Like occupied Tibet, it is remote, surrounded by mountain chains, and at its center is the Tarim Basin, a vast desert area. On leaving China proper, the famed Silk Road divided and passed on the southern and northern edges of the Tarim Basin. Along these routes oasis towns developed. On the southern route were Khotan and Yarkand. Kashgar was at the western end where the two routes rejoined and then proceeded to Tashkent and Samarkand in West Turkestan and India to the south. The Uighers are the native people of Eastern Turkestan which are Turkish, the Chinese call the region Xinjiang or Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region. The Chinese census gives the present population of the Uyghers as 7.2 million, and there are also 500,000 Uygurs in Western Turkestan mostly known as Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, Kyrgyzstan, Turkmenistan and Tajikistan, almost 75,000 Uygurs have their homes in Pakistan, Afghanistan, Saudi Arabia, Turkey, Europe and the United States. The Manchus who set up a huge empire in China, invaded the Uygur Kingdom of Eastern Turkestan in 1759 and dominated it until 1862.

POTENTIAL FOR NATIONALIST/MUSLIM MOVEMENT WITHIN CHINA BORDERS AGAINST COMMUNIST CHINESE OCCUPATION

During the period of Manchu occupation, the Uygurs revolted 42 times against the Manchu rule with the purpose of regaining their independence. In the last revolt of 1863, the Uygurs were successful in expelling the Manchus from their motherland, and founded an independent kingdom in 1864. The kingdom was recognized by the Ottoman Empire, Tsarist Russia, and Great Britain. But for fear of Tsarist expansion into Eastern Turkestan, Great Britain persuaded the Manchu court to conquer Eastern Turkestan. The money for the Manchu invasion was granted by the British Banks. Large forces under the overall command of General Zho Zhung Tang (Tso Tsung-t'ang / Zui Zongtang), attacked Eastern Turkestan in 1876. After this invasion, Eastern Turkestan was given the name Xinjiang which means "new territory" or "New Dominion" and it was annexed into the territory of the Manchu empire on November 18,1884. In 1911, the Nationalist Chinese, overthrew Manchu rule and established a republic. In 1933 and 1944, the Uygurs were successful in setting up an independent Eastern Turkestan Republic for short periods, but these independent republics were overthrown by the military intervention and political intrigues of the Soviet Union. in 1949 Nationalist Chinese were defeated by the Chinese Communists. After that, Uygurs fell under Chinese Communist rule and expanded occupation and persecution. Eastern Turkistan is a vast land of 640,000 square kilometers, one sixth of the present Chinese territory. Geographically, it is the China's largest province. Uyghurs and Han Chinese are not of the same race. Uyghurs is clearly a European race and look primarily like Western Europeans.

Uyghuristan was occupied by the communist China in 1949 and its name was changed to the XUAR in 1955. The communist China has been exercising colonial rule over the Uyghuristan since then. The Uyghurs have had to undergo unimaginable suffering and been subjugated to inhuman conditions under the repressive alien rule. But despite all the suffering and cultural genocide, “the determination spirit of the people in Uyghuristan remains ever strong” (Uyghur Indenpendence Movement). According to available information from Chinese sources, despite all the risks involved, demonstrations, protest marches and other underground political activities organized by Uyghurs and aimed at obtaining equality, justice and even independence for Uyghurs have never stopped in Uyghuristan since 1954 and reached to a very active state in the late 90’s. The active state is now becoming more organized and militant.

East Türkestan ( Uyghuristan ) National Congress

Similar to the Congress Party of India during the period of the “quit India” movement against the British in the 1930’s and 1940’s, there has been formed an East Turkestan (Uyghuristan) National Congress Party, which is currently underground in China but has offices in Europe and in Turkey.

Resolution of the East Turkestan National Congress

The Congress of the ETNC meeting in Brussels on Thursday and Friday, 17 and 18 of October, 2001,
A. strongly condemning the terrorist attack of 11 September on the World Trade Centre and the Pentagon and terrorism and extremism in any forms;
B. expressing, on behalf of the Uyghur communities around the world, its deepest condolences to the USA government, to the families of the victims;
C. denouncing these tragic and criminal acts and their exploitation made by the Chinese communist authorities to their own advantage in order to strengthen the crackdown on any form of dissent in East Turkestan by portraying Uyghurs as Islamic terrorists, and by equating any request for the respect of basic human rights and determine their own future as an expressing extremism and terrorism;
D. stressing the fact that the Uyghur people are struggling for over 50 years for their freedom and self-determination and recalling that this struggle has nothing to do with transnational terrorism;
E. condemning the policy of State terrorism conducted by Beijing in East Turkestan that suppresses any form of dissent and severely punishes Uyghur people for expressing their political, religious, historical or cultural views;
1. recalls that the primary goal of the East Turkestan National Congress and of the Uyghur Communities around the world is to end the illegal occupation of East Turkestan by the People's Republic of China and to implement the right to self-determination in accordance with the principles of democracy and secularism;
2. calls on the International community in general and on the European Union in particular to seriously address the tragic situation of the Uyghur People who, like the Tibetan People, suffer the dramatic effects of the Chinese policy of genocide by population transfer since the Chinese invasion and harsh occupation of East Turkestan
3. calls on the European Union and all democratic government to do their utmost to persuade Beijing to immediately open political negotiations with the representatives of the Uyghur people, including the East Turkestan National Congress, with the aim of ensuring the implementation of the basic human rights of the people of East Turkestan and to permit them to determine their own future;
4. calls for the creation of a development aid program to be administered by the ETNC for the development educational, cultural, buisiness and social projects in Uyghur communities of Central Asia (Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan and Uzbekistan)

COULD PROVIDE INFORMATION ON AL QAIDA

Obviously, the terrorist organizations such as Al Qaida will offer support to the East Turkestan movement. If the West ignores the Uyghurs, then groups such as Al Qaida will succeed, because the people of the regions are desperate. At this time, however, the Uyghurs are pro-USA. They could also provide very important and valuable information on Al Qaida. In addition, while the Communist Chinese government is itself threatened by Al Qaida, the same Communist government is a primary source of arms proliferation to these terrorist organizations, via the channel of Pakistan and other countries. China is hoping for the opportunity to move on Taiwan, and to tie up the US military on other issues which will distract from a Taiwan invasion. China is playing both sides of the card game. The US and the West should do the same, by exploring the Uyghur issue. If Osama bin Laden is still alive, they also may have information as to his whereabouts. This is my opinion. Take it as you like. It deserves to be explored. Currently, there are US interests who have helped the Uyghurs. So they are currently pro-America, not just anti-Chinese. This is not like the Mujahideen. It is something to consider.

QUOTES FROM THE DAILY LIVES OF UYGHUR PEOPLE

“The Chinese Communists deceived us Uyghurs with the socialist propaganda. Nowadays they bribe people so that they send their children to Chinese schools. Students undergo a thorough propaganda brainwashing. The Uyghur collaborationists serve their Chinese masters with awe, and inform them about anything going on among the Uyghurs. These mean people do not hesitate even to sell their relatives’ lives off the Chinese invaders. Let me underline one thing, the Chinese society came along through its political and philosophical development. It is now searching new ways and look for innovations. Some of their administrative workers do their best for the sake of the Uyghur people, however, most of them only cause harm on our nation. They have no choice of acting otherwise since they risk losing their precious positions. Let me give an example. One day I brought a brilliant novel of the young Uyghur writer to one of the censor agencies for approval. The official told me: ‘The author is quite young, if we publish his book with a picture of the 30 years of age, what would the people in their 50s and 60s think?’ The Chinese block the young intellectuals’ chances of expressing themselves in public work. They are simply envious of the young writers’ talents. We tried for many years to help young writers to publish their books. The Chinese regime does not give any financial support to them. The official whom I showed the manuscript to told me that it was full of bourgeois ideology. The Chinese regime calls the black as white and the white as black. Any literal work undergoes a 6 month long censorship and is sent from one censor to another in order to be labeled at the end as the separatist propaganda. The idea of portraying Sawut Damolla would make one think of the Uyghur national state, they say. The Chinese oppression is even stronger in the radio and television. The government even restricts usage of the words such as Uyghur, Turkish, national education, East Turkistan etc. Every little Uyghur program undergoes big scrutiny. If the Uyghurs mention in their films any ‘wrong ideas’ the film producers face serious punishments. Editors lose their jobs, and producers face all kinds of allegations even weak image of party organs. The mass media are only supposed to glorify the Chinese Communist party. They serve as a tool of assimilation and degrading the national culture and civilization.”

Sounds like the same methods, i.e. control of the language used in the media and political correctness persecution et all, that the Democratic Party and the liberal media and Hollywood which works for the same Left in the US utilizes.

Supposedly the UN allocated a certain amount of money for development of the Uyghur culture.

Were any books published from this money?

“Only a small part of the allocated money was spent on publishing books and materials. The rest disappeared. Generally, the funding was of no use for the following reasons. The Chinese regime conducted the program of ‘renovation’ of the Uyghur textbooks. Old good textbooks published in 80s were banned and destroyed, they were replaced by the new textbooks, which glorify the Chinese Communist party. Money was spent on developing ideas of socialism, communism, and ‘national unity’ that is imperialism. Money was spent not on literature for children but rather on Russian, Chinese and Uyghur Communist writers’ books with the ideas of ‘red rebel’, ‘steel hardening’, ‘Le Pin soldier’, ‘Ludungyi’, and other books of this sort. This money is spent on bribing our brethren Uzbeks, Kazakhs, Kyrgyz, to turn them against us and to gain their support in oppressing our drive for independence. Most of the finances allocated to the development of national culture are spent on Chinese literature. The Chinese regime publishes textbooks for us to spread their ideas. Other ethnic groups like Kazakhs, Mongols, Kyrgyz, Shive are used as a force against the Uyghurs.”

Sounds like the same methods, i.e. renovation, control and revision of history to the benefit of Socialism, that the school administrators in the US public schools use, which are fronts for the Democratic Party which is a USA Socialist Party and government control of national culture party. The Democratic Party is the enemy of Democracy.

FOREIGN MUSLIMS IN EAST TURKESTAN

“We went to the Donghuang (‘Thousand Houses’) historical site, but we were not permitted to the site by an official. We joined a group of foreigners. This time we were cordially greeted with false smiles. Our guide who spoke English with a strong accent revised the Uyghur history 180 degrees around. He stated that these historical values were created by the Chinese in ancient times. These ‘examples of the rich Chinese civilization’ were supposed to be ‘destroyed by the barbarians’. I was really upset and felt sorry for wasted money. At the end of the excursion I went to the other side – this place had a sign ‘No entrance’ in English and Chinese languages. I went inside the site anyway. I saw a Chinese worker who was scratching with a scoop the paint from the ceiling. I looked more carefully and I saw that he was scratching an ancient painting from the ceiling. I shouted at him in Chinese what are you doing? The guy was scared and looked with suspicion at a ‘foreigner’ who spoke Chinese . . .I had no choice but to leave this place. I was humiliated like an animal. I could not tell this story to anyone because I was afraid that it would reach the Chinese bosses. I told this story to one Uyghur scientist who said this happens all the time . . . If you wrote about this the government would simply annihilate you.”

Sounds like the same historical revisionism going on in our US Universities.

U.N. LESSER ABET TO COMMUNIST OPPRESSION OF UIGHURS

”After September 11 events the Chinese government blamed the Uighurs of terrorism and intensified its oppression of the Eastern Turkistan (Xinjiang Uighur Autonomous region in the west of China) people . . . The Chinese political leadership used the tragic September 11 events as an excuse for their brutal oppression of Uighurs accusing them of terrorist activities. The Chinese regime demanded support from the world community for its unlawful policies . . . The Xinghua agency announced on February 1, 2002, that ‘the number of illegal terrorist organizations in Eastern Turkistan was over 50’. The report named all the local and foreign Eastern Turkistan organizations as ‘terrorist groups’. Generally speaking, over the last 4 months the Chinese government labeled the Uighurs as ‘terrorists’ tens of times in various speeches, official reports, newspaper articles etc. . . . The Women’s Association of the Uighur Autonomous Region called a conference on April 3, 2002, which released a report named ‘Terrorist groups in Eastern Turkistan will not avoid punishment’. The conference participants were demanded to name the Eastern Turkistan national liberation movement forces as ‘terrorist organizations’.”

In fact, there is an active independence movement of Uighurs. It is very common during the particular month of a given recent year over 100 Uighurs will be executed in public by the Communist Chinese to “send the message”.

- There are still Anti-Communist groups – The Anti-Communist wing of the conservative movement is not dead. Obviously, those involved in independence movements in China will likely be killed if they are outspoken, though representatives of such independence movements are not so situated with the likelihood of execution in Europe. At the same time caution is in order. Because the same mistakes of the past must not be made, i.e. when dealing with Muslims against Communism you have to be very careful as was shown in Afghanistan. But I predict, the degree of success in China by such independence movements will grow, and options have to be considered. Because they will turn to the Islamic movement if the West shows no interest in them. China is as great a threat, if not more, than the Islamic Fascists.
