Apples and oranges? Maybe you should read Adam Clymer in today's NY Times, and Bob Herbert in yesterday's NY Times, and the building matra about how the GOP is, and always has been, the party of racism. This battle is bigger than Trent Lott, and those conservatives who insist on not engaging this debate, and believe the dumping Lott will stem the tide, are fooling themselves. If we don't have a full debate on this issue, as Rush and Sean have said, then the lib media and the Democrats are free to rewrite history, as they're doing under our noses right now. Did you know that Ronald Reagan was a racist? So says Clymer.

Mandatory Clymer ping . . .
Alberta's Child dishes out some well-deserved punishment to an old friend at the New York Times.

The two are not one.
You can have a discussion after you dump Lott.
If you try and defend Lott by pointing at them then you are simply as Liberal as they are. There is no moral equivalence.
Lott said what he said. It is wholy seperate to what anyone else has said. They are his remarks. He has apologized, fine now he alone should whether the storm...any conservative defending him is an idiot.
Now if a Conservative wants to simply point out the hypocracy..then fine. If we want to talk about it seperate from defending Lott then fine but trying to link the two is just plain foolish[IMHO]. :o)
